FF9 is my favorite FF to date. I loved how you can combine Vivi's magic with Steiner's melee attacks to make them elemental. the whole game was really good. if i didnt beat it a couple of years ago i would buy it to play on PSP. but i completed it 100% and wont be going back for a while for sure.

And i love playing these old FF on my PSP. i bought FF7 to play on PS3 but ended up playing whole thing on my PSP. looked great and controls were perfect

"all ff games are linear"

Alright Mr. dictionary. Yes, if we go by your logic, every game ever made is probably linear. There is a beginning, there is an end, and one way or the other you get from point A to point Z.

However, there is a huge difference in a game that lets you do a multitude of different things in between those two points, and one where you literally run down a single corridor for 20 hours straight pressing the X button.

If I didn't still have the discs I would definately buy this. FF9 is one of the best Final Fantasy games out there and I personally enjoyed it more than 7. I also agree with others they need to release Xenogears.
But I really hope they don't realease Chrono Cross like others want, It was probably the worst PS1 RPG I ever played. Played for a good 12 hours and did not enjoy it at all.

Meh, a lot of people enjoy Chrono Cross though. Even if comes out, you wouldn't have to buy it. I hope the game comes out. I personally wouldn't buy it, but it would make a lot of people happy at least.

Titus you make a good point, I guess as long as others are happy that is all that matters. It is also good to have more games available for people to choose from on the playstation store. I honestly just don't understand what people like about it. Chrono Trigger on the other hand that was a really good game and should be on the store.

doesn't matter to me if they release it or not, but i'm with on chrono cross. i really WANTED to like it, but i just couldn't get into it. it's a shame, because chrono trigger is up there for my favorite game of all time, so i was hoping chrono cross would follow suit.

Couldn't agree more on Chrono Trigger. That game was amazing. Chrono Cross was alright, but couldn't match Chrono Trigger in greatness. I played through Chrono Cross twice, and Chrono Trigger more times than I care to admit. In fact, just talking/thinking about it makes me want to take another go at it.

Chrono Cross was an... extreme game. It had a vision and it followed it through to the end. Like most things that do that, the result was something that some people find insufferable while others find amazing. As you can probably guess, I fit into the latter category. Now, obviously you're free to not like it - it really is the most divisive game I've EVER seen - but wishing for it not to be re-released so that the people who did like it can't play? That seems kind of immature.

Read his second post. He said the more games that are released the better, seeing as it would then offer a wider selection on the PlayStation Store.

I've already have Final Fantasy 9 (which I bought from a store that was selling some classic PS1 game). So I just need to buy Final Fantasy 7 and 8 from the PS store. 9, I won't need at all since I got the disc.

This was a game that I got to the final boss of and then abandoned. I just didn't feel like it was a story that I appreciated enough to finish. Unfortunately it was only after I finally traded in the game that I truly was able to appreciate what I had been playing. I think I'll probably pick this up again when I have some time opening up in my game schedule.

I will be getting this as soon as it's availabe. I was never compelled to beat this one like I was with 7 & 8. Maybe because I hated the main character and the limit breaks. Tension I think they were called, or something like that. I didn't like how as soon as the bar filled it forced that character to use it.

I've completed FFVII on PS1, purchased FFVIII on PSN and haven't played it yet due to very little free time :'(

I just wish they would bring Vagrant Story to the US PSN since it's been released over in Europe for a few weeks. Maybe there's problems with the conversion and they're trying to fix it. Who knows?

I also hope they bring Legend of Dragoon soon since I never had a chance to complete it.

I don't recall what happened to my ps1, and my ps2's backward compatibility is broken so I've been grabbing the ffs as they've been coming. (exception is tactics which I have a umd of.) FF9 has always been my favorite. Such an awesome game, I've been waiting for this to hit the psn for a while. Also, as mentioned above in some post, Legend of Dragoon sure would kick ass on psn. That games leveling system was TERRIBLE (basically 0 xp on anything but bosses) but man it sure was a good time.

No mate don't be a r3t4rd...
I'm saying, half of those things even if they eventually do come out on the US store will never come to the EU store.

EU store doesn't even have any RE games on it.. No Tomb Raider games last time I checked, doesn't have Gran Turismo, doesn't have Grandia, no Spyro games, doesn't have Silent Hill, doens't have Dino Crisis etc etc etc
It took months and months to get FF7+8 and MGS1 after the US store did...
I can keep going...

So yeah... We got Vagrant Story... Big F'n whoop...

I just don't understand how any fan of FF can consider this their "favorite FF game ever". I know everyone's different, and everyone has their own opinion, but to me that like hearing the Chevette is the best car Chevy ever made.

There. I said it. Now downvote at will.

I personally don't understand how a true final fantasy fan can't really like and appreciate FF9. It is more reminiscent of the FF games on the SNES and NES than FF7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13. It was basically a throwback to what final fantasy was, honestly that is why it is one of my favorite final fantasy games. I know most people think FF7 is hands down the best FF game ever but honestly I like FF4, FF6, FF9, and FF13 better, and don't get me started on how much I don't like FF8. I do really like ff7 just like the other ones better, and FF7 was actually the first final fantasy game I ever played and I bought it when it first came out.

I am a new fan of the series with FFXIII and it was the sci-fi element that made me interested (as well as the prettiness of the characters =P). I'm also enjoying FFVII on my PSP and I plan to play the other sci-fi FFs (VIII, X and X-2). I will still definitely try out FFIX, FFXII and maybe even the older ones, but the medieval stereotypical fantasy setting doesn't appeal to me at all.

That's just it--FF9 tried to be great by throwing in as much gear nostalgia as it could and it fell flat in every other regard.

It's been a long time since I played, and having not enjoyed it all the first time around, I'm not going to play it again to see if my opinion has changed (and I'm certainly not going to buy it again when I still have the original game).

What I remember being most disapointing was the ending...I recall it being really short and lacking in CG compared to the others in the series. It was a huge let-down for having had sludged through the whole thing.

I'd sooner play X-2 before this again. Hell--I'd play Mystic Quest before this.

FFX (and probably X-2, haven't played it) aren't Sci-fi! Well, the first 20 minutes are, but after that most technology is like old Pcaific Islandy stuff.
