"One of the benefits of having this down-on-the-field camera view is that it really makes playing as the quarterback -- like the passing mechanic -- feel really natural," Rob Donald explains in the dev diary above. While we're inclined to argue that the game certainly looks more real, we wonder if the close view will make players feel like they're at a disadvantage. It's something we'll have to judge when the game comes out in May.

The animation is wonderful. The character design is a tad on the cartoony side, but if this had the NFL license (and proportioned the players realistically), this would be the ultimate football game.

They're boasting about everything in this game except how fun it is compared to Blitz 2000. Cause if its not on that level of fun I would rather take out the Playstation again.

I'm really digging the realistic running, i feel like i would be clenching my ass cheeks on the couch each times i break free from the line of scrimmage. That last glimpse of diving in the endzone with the ball really looks awesome. Not having the NFL license does really disappoint though.

The graphics in this game do not look all that great but the animations look soooo awesome. Looking forward to trying it.

That point of view is great for single player, but is there any sort of local multiplayer? That angle looks impossible for someone to play defense.
I realize that many people play on-line, but for me sports games are only fun if I can be in the same room with the person I'm playing against.

That's actually the same reason I dropped in here. Me and my buddy have been following Backbreaker since it was announced a few years ago and have been counting down the days to its release. However, our favorite thing to do is sit around and start a game of first to 16 wins on Madden (never being allowed to use the same team more than once). I haven't seen anything other than a coop pass in a really early video to indicate that Backbreaker is going to have head to head mode in person and if it doesn't, I really think it will hurt this release maybe even more than no NFL license.
I know a ton of people pumped for this game but without local head to head (that doesn't suck as well) they might as well call this Dealbreaker.

If they
A) let users edit player names, numbers, and stats
B) let users create teams and logos
C) let users save and upload these configurations for others to download
this game will destroy Madden.
If they don't allow A or C, the game will be a fun niche game that won't catch on with the mainstream.

A)Yes
B)Yes
C)....most likely? Haven't heard this confirmed yet.
As for some of the other questions I'm seeing, YES there's offline multiplayer, it goes splitscreen to capture the correct camera angles as discussed in the video above. I think this is going to be fantastic.

While I love football video games, I have no love of the NFL or Madden. I always prefer the NCAA football games anyways. When I play a Madden game, I always randomly pick a NFL team and do a Fantasy Draft anyways. And after a while, I end up moving the team. So having a league with fictional teams doesn't bother me. I just want good gameplay.

I can't wait to see the recreated NFL with this game. It won't take long before people are sharing rosters....we can only hope this game has that capability. That being said, I don't think that the devs care about making money with this game. I think this is a huge sales pitch to EA. Madden may be on this engine sooner than later.

You guys should realize they're going to probably have to crack down hard on any "user generated" NFL content.... if they don't, they'll get sued pretty hard. Whether there's any right to it or not, I doubt these devs have the money to fight the collective might of EA+NFL.... nor would they dare to try.
So... any pipe dreams of "user generated" licensed teams... you're most likely outta luck.
Oh, and as for the "main stream"... those guys who buy Madden every year and nothing else... this game would have to make a HUGE splash for them to buy it. They wouldn't even play the ESPN licensed and superior 2k Football games... this would take a couple years (at least) to become big enough to take bites out of Madden.

The more I see of this game the more I regret that Madden and the NFL monopoly agreement on licensing. Its really stifling creativity and it hurts gamers the most in the end. I have a feeling though things will change soon. Madden has had no real innovation in years and its only a matter of time before people stop buying it. When the NFL sees that the EA engine no longer works they'll open up their product to other developers.

The optimist in me wishes this were true, but Madden will always sell through the roof. It's synonymous with video game football. There is too much momentum behind the franchise to stop it. NFL 2K started to gain traction against Madden, and put out a better product for several years, so Madden grabbed the exclusive license.

To be fair, it's also somewhat forcing creativity. These guys and Blitz couldn't rely on a license, so they had to make their games stick out somehow. They had to be more daring. Without the exclusive agreement, they could've easily just aimed for better marketing, being slightly better (but still a clone), and live off the license.
Although... to be even MORE fair.... this game is really just a Euphoria advertisement. You know these guys are BEGGING for a licensing deal from EA.

yea i like the top view of football games this is kinda of a "superstar" madden mode all around game.. different but i plan on buying it and trying it out seems fun and new. Probably wont be better than madden though.. and yea the brits making this kinda game is kinda weird to me as well

What reasons are you citing for an assumption like that? You haven't played it yet. Logically, how can you say something will be "not as good" as another product that hasn't seen the light of day yet? Just seems ignorant to me.
