It's usually free on PC because it's Valve charging for the DLC there, and Microsoft charging for the DLC on Xbox Live.

@James... have you played BFBC2 at all? Even though they are technically the same maps (Same name, setting, and assets) but they completely reorganize everything to ensure it does not feel the same as playing the same map on other game mode.

Considering they have to constantly play, tweak, and play over and over til it's as polished and balanced as possible for the given game type, yes... it DOES cost the company money to do so. :)

Not to mention BFBC2 kicks ass, so i could care less if it's technically the same map. It's free :D

Free DLC? You mean putting more game modes in old maps? You do know they could've just done that at launch and doesn't really cost a lot (if any) money to implement those game modes? Creating actual new maps costs way more money, so shush you rebellish EA loving hipster..(and for the record I understand you have to buy a new game to get this 'free' DLC? and if you buy it second hand you actually have to pay for that stuff, well go give yourself a nice ass 'We Love EA' party)

Oh, yeah sure, just say I have no arguments by giving your all mighty argument of 'If you don't like the fact that I support a company that doesn't charge out of their asses'. I did bring up arguments, making new maps with new art and level design costs money, putting in existing game modes in old maps DOES NOT. So asking money for actual new maps is reasonable. And the consumers them self can decide themselves if it's worth it, with there wallets.

Ps. the hipster thing was meant ironic btw >.>

Pps. I despise 4chan

Alright, I get what you're saying, but lets be real.
Who gives a crap how much it costs for a company to make something? (Maybe you, because you have stock in Activision or something...)

It's all about how we as consumers want our product. We want our online gaming kept fresh, but cheap. $15 dollars for just 3 new maps is not cheap... do you argue against this?

Anywho, this is why I play Valve games on PC... you don't have to deal with Microsoft getting your money. I'm sure if Valve had their way, all DLC would be free... and TF2 would be updated regularly.

"Why does Valve hate Sony, again?
Oh, right, because Gabe has a chubby for Microsoft."

Funny. However, he (or at least valve) has since amended the stance on the PS3 saying that it isn't a waste of time, but they do not have the manpower to develop simultaneously for that, the 360 and the PC. So really it's a question of whether or not they're willing to hire new blood to develop for it. Of course, to do so, they would need to release another hit game. Not a hard prospect for them, except the releasing part.

*disclaimer: I love TF2, the L4Ds, and my PS3 as well.

Come on nerdy, Left 4 Dead 2 is a Valve game and Steam is owned by Valve. There is no way Valve would release this DLC and not make it available on Steam.

I see no fault in this plan.

There's L4D DLC, and there's L4D2 DLC. In each game you play as the normal team for that game. The second game's DLC picks up where the firsts' leaves off (or some short time afterward).

Obviously, I'm not 100% guaranteeing any of this, but this seems to be what's indicated.

Agreed, I guess it makes you a hippy to support a company that fixes all the errors of an opposing company, and do it for cheaper/free.

I wish I could make sense of it.
