Toys R Us buy one, get one half-off next weekend

The problem with the Easter weekend is that it's one of the many holidays celebrated the world over without presents. Like, how can you enjoy your time off of school or work or whatever without a hot new gametape to solve? Well, thanks to Toys R Us' buy one, get one half-off sale, you just may be able to.

On April 2 and 3, stores nationwide, as well as the retailer's site, will offer the sale on its entire stock of video games -- among other, non-gaming goods. That means you could buy a copy of Dragon Age: Origins and snag Awakening for half-off. Or you could pick up a couple copies of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and get a friend in the mix for relatively cheap. Sharing is caring!

But it's supposed to be "Buy one get one FREE" Half off is what Amazon is for.

Dangit! And here I was thinking I would be able to get FFXIII for $30 if I bought say, Pokemon Heart Gold. I always get so excited over sales like this that I initially forget the quoted rule. :(

Anyone know if I can buy a cheaper game and put the cheapest game in front so the one that cost $60 will be half price? Or they always put the most expensive up front?

FYI: BOGOS are alway equal or lesser price item is the half off the company is already giving you the second item at close to wholesale price(mark up is usually 54% or close to that). It wouldn't make sense to take a bigger loss then needs be.

I refuse to spend any more than $50 for a game, I just can't afford to spend more than that.

What about Canada?

Canada always gets the short end of the stick. This is only for the U.S. If it was for Canada though then I would get Dragon Age: Origins maybe.

You mean like the futureshop deal for borderlands that they said they were "out of stock" until it was over? Yeah...

Not as inspiring as the Steam deals....

There also is less overhead to deal with on steam then from a brick & morter store.

Is it? I'm quite inspired by being able to buy a game and, as a consequence, get another that I can put up on eBay to get cash profit. I can just snag one AAA console title, grab another popular one that I'm not interested in, and sell it new on eBay for closer to retail.

I can just consider it a slightly annoying rebate program.

I like Steam, don't get me wrong, but I also appreciate the ability of retail console games to retain some level of short-term value.

anyone know if pre-orders (Red Dead Redemption) can somehow be included in this deal ?

the only way you can include a pre-order is if you buy a game for $60 and then you get your half off game, but dont open the game you paid $60 for, then return it when RDR comes out and exchange it.

Perhaps my family slightly differs on the gift thing, but I've always gotten a game or something for Easter XD

8 bit, tat makes no sense. you're still paying full price for both games...

he asked how he can include RDR into his buy one get one half off. the one i said is the ONLY POSSIBLE WAY for him to do it. i didnt say whether or not it was a great deal. i just said thats the only way to include a pre-order.

yeah he is still paying full price for RDR, but he is still getting another game half off, so essentially he is using RDR to get his other game half off.

I love how when these deals come up you get that stupid person who asks "Can I get a cheap game and then get the $60 half off"

Actually looking at the ad it seems that the deal is buy 1 get 1 30% off, NOT 50%. :(

I went to the site, read the ad... it says:
Buy 1 get 1 30% off all video games priced up to $19.99

and

Buy 1 get 1 40% off all Xbox 360/PS3 games

So... where's the 50% on all games?

And upon looking again, I see this Buy 1 Get One Half Off deal there o_O

This is a good deal for me since I'm slow when it comes to buying SP games. I plan on getting Infamous, Batman, GoW Collection & Ghostbusters. They SHOULD all be on sale by now.
