I don't own 3. I own eight.

Purchased in the following order:

1 from Karaoke Revolution Presents American Idol
1 Logitech bought to go with the above game
1 from the original Rock Band kit
2 from the original Lips game (purchased 50% off)
1 from Lips Number one hits (purchased 75% off)
1 from Beatles Limited Edition (purchased 75% off)
1 from Band Hero. (purchased 75% off)

Crazy? Yes, of course. But when they are thrown in for song, I'm not going to get rid of them.

Out of the thousand or so songs available, I'm sure are a few that would be really great with harmonies. I wonder if they're going back and adding them, or just adding them to new songs, like they did with HOPO chords. Probably the latter, since, you know, it IS over a thousand songs.

I don't mind the majority of my spelling/grammatical errors (and truth be told, I let most of them slide simply because I don't want to further bombard the OPs inbox via a reply), but I just can't let myself get away with throwing an extra 'e' into 'easy.'

That's a given and been confirmed zillions of time during the years: the songs are licensed for a platform, not for a game.

Also, if they didn't include that feature it would be like releasing a Halo 4 with no weapons or Grand Theft Auto with no car stealing or Starcraft with no mouse support...

That is a basic Rock Band feature. It just cannot be omitted and I can assure you that Harmonix are fully aware of that. They are not Activision.

Aww yeah, this reminds me of my favorite part of PAX. Hang'n out with devs in the expo hall and deviously getting information out of them. It's surprisingly easy at PAX, since they're happy but also really tired, and often not PR so they're not really that great at keeping secrets. So fun.

I don't think anyone is really surprised here. I would have been if it *didn't* have harmonies.

I'm just hoping previously released songs (at least specific ones that would make a difference) will be able to get patched with it.

I always thought that what Rock Band needed the most was a backup vocal option.

I can't imagine too many times that complete vocal harmonies would be very playable but if you had the people playing instruments able to chime in during th right parts of songs, thy would be awesome.

I'm still holding out hope that Beattles are exportable to RB3.

You'd have more of a chance of Activision letting Harmonix use their DLC. If anything is set in stone it's The Beatles.

Don't forget about the Rockband: Beatles pack that came with just the game and two mics. It was a good deal if you had a ton of plastic instruments already, but just wanted to get up and running with harmonies, although i don't think that bundle saw wide distribution.

Great news! But what about DLC/RB1/ songs? Hope they receive a kinda patch with harmonies, like in songs like Don't Fear the Reaper or Won't Get Fooled Again.

Also, an Expert+-esque double pedal mode would be nice. Harmonix won't dissapoint, that's for sure.

Here's the question...

The previous six DLC tracks from Green Day are going to be upgraded or whatever you want to call it to include the harmonies for GD:RB. Is that a possibility for RB3???

I would love to see them add it, but I doubt it could/would happen. There's just too many songs and too many questions. RB1, RB2, DLC, RBN... Would they have to get new master tracks for some songs? Would their original licensing agreements from RB1 not cover this upgrade?

Sad to say it, and really hoping I'm incorrect, but it's not likely going to happen. Please feel free and prove me wrong, HMX. Prove me wrong.

I'm going to bolster your hope!

No need for new master tracks as nothing is different when listening to a RB track with or without harmonies. I doubt the license would come into play either (unless for some weird reason it stipulated that only four people could play at a time!). All that is needed is two additional midi tracks per song and these are generated by Harmonix. For most songs this process could be mostly automated with a simple script.

While it is little work for an individual track, there are a lot of past RB tracks... the sheer volume is the reason why it probably isn't too likely (hope dashed!).

Just announce Alice in Chain's entire music catalog is coming to DLC and RB3 will be an easily justifiable purchase...as if it wouldn't be already.

I don't mind if they want to add harmonies to give the game another feature that SOME people will use...

But they'd better not have any achievements tied to harmonies. Those are the ones I have left in Beatles:RB and it freakin' sucks. It's hard enough getting 1 person that can sing playing with the band, let alone 2 or 3. Harmonies are nice for expanding the experience, but it's not something that should be required at any point...

and getting 1000/1000 or platinum isn't required either. Just play the game.

@Ghen

It might not be required that you earn 1000/1000 points, but it would be nice if games made achievements more accessible. It's the same as with some of the Guitar Hero games having super-hard achievements that only a dozen or so people will ever get (ie. "Fire & Flames" on Expert).

I read in one of the Left 4 Dead articles that less than 4% of online players have gotten the achievement for completing a campaign on Expert. Should games really be THAT hard? Why would you program something into a game that so few people can enjoy or access?

@doeboynmek12

Who said anything about achievement whoring? I just think it's ridiculous that certain achievements are so out-of-reach for the majority of gamers. If I were ONLY a vocalist (and thus missing out on all the instrument achievements), but I couldn't find anyone that could harmonize with me, I'd not only not get the other achievements, but I'd miss the vocal ones too. Did you say something about being "owned" (I refuse to use the meme; misspelling should not be rewarded)...

I ended up with three mics, first from the original Rock Band set, and then the following year I actually also bought the Guitar Hero: World Tour set and the Rock Band 2 set.

Maybe I'm just hanging out with the wrong people but I think it's going to be harder finding two other people that would want to sing.
