Just Cause 2 grapples to top of UK sales chart

In true revolutionary fashion, Just Cause 2 took the top spot on the UK all-formats sales chart last week. The sandbox title that's more fun when you ignore your objectives beat out Pokémon SoulSilver and HeartGold, which fought to the second and fourth spots, respectively.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 kept on the pressure in third, while the unstoppable Just Dance took fifth. Kratos fell down the charts, like he tumbled out of the good graces of Mt. Olympus, as God of War III went from first to seventh. Check out the complete UK top 10 sales list after the break.

How the hell does MW2 outsell God of War III?

Because Modern Warfare is on every format, GOW3 is PS3 only ;D

Good point, but still....It's unnatural....unholy.

What you should really be asking is: "Why is a game titled Just Dance outselling a game called GOD OF WAR!?"

Just Cause 2 is a great game. I already drained about 12 hours into this game just going around destroying stuff and finding everything there is to do on this game.

Oh yeah quick question, does anyone know how to destroy the Tesla Coil on this game?

Pokémon did top the chart. SoulSilver + HeartGold = Pokémon top of the chart.

I'm surprised SoulSilver sold more, I always thought Gold was more popular, with red before that. Personally I like Blue and Silver =P

If I recall correctly, Silver always outsold Gold, even in the original run.
I'm a Silver fan myself....at least over Gold. =P

Silver is the only one of the secondary game versions that's ever done better than the primary one. Not surprising to see SoulSilver did too.

Ehh, Silver was a 'primary' generation game - you probably mean Crystal, or you've confused your terms.

Wow, I'm truly shocked. I expected a Pokemon whitewash as usual.

I need to get Just Cause. The plane hijacking reminds me of Prototype and that game was a blast.

Two questions:
1. How is Pokemon not number one?
2. Why did Sony screw God of War advertising so bad? I'm yet to see a single mention of it anywhere.

Combined they probably come out on top.

It is also just a revamp of a game now 10 years old (yet against my better judgement, I am tempted to buy Heart Gold because I was obsessed with Silver when it originally came out, and it'd be great to get a better looking version and restart the addiction 10 years later).

I'm going to have to disagree with you about the GOWII marketing, at least in Europe (Ireland) anyway I see at least 2 ads for it everyday. They had them playing during breaks for big football matchs when most people would be watching even.

Indeed, Kleptomaniac, here in Portugal I've been seeing GoW III ads left and right.

I've seen that trailer with the girlfriend complaining about her boyfriend not paying attention to her because of GOW3 (I liked the MAG one better but it was still good). There's been a good amount of trailers on PSN being released too.

Well deserved by Just Cause. Not a perfect game by any means, but it is evident within the first hour playing that the developers put A LOT of effort/detail into this game. That's what I want to see from game developers - pride about the product they are pumping out. They could have easily just thrown out a trash sequel that rehashed the gameplay elements of the first game, but these guys completely revamped the game.

Hands down the best sandbox gameplay I have ever played. (Falls flat on the storyline/missions aspect, but I'm too busy blowing crap up to notice).

Yeah dude. It's like I've seen this story a hundred times but guess what I haven't seen before? Stunt parachuting off of the top of a speeding car right before it plows into a gas station. This game is like training camp for suicide bombers everywhere.

Just wont see another top 10 with "just" in 2 of the titles...

Yeah, Maybe Brits like "just" in their games. Maybe a better marketing should be

I'm going to have to agree with you. Obviously none of these people tried the demo before picking it up. The controls are just brutal. The AI is worse. It's 'just' not that good.
