PSA: Modern Warfare 2 'Stimulus Package' is live on XBLM, title update coming soon [update]

Your crippling case of "mapathy" can finally be treated, dear Modern Warfare 2 player. Just a few minutes ago, the "Stimulus Package" DLC bundle, which includes three new multiplayer maps and two tarted-up arenas from Call of Duty 4, went live on Xbox 360. At $15, it's a pretty pricey prescription for your blues, but it might just be the only option you've got. Curse you, pharmaceutical empire!

Unfortunately, it seems the launch of the new maps was botched -- we've received a number of tips claiming the maps aren't loading in-game. Major Nelson recently Tweeted that the game needs a title update in order to incorporate the new content, which he says is coming soon. We'll let you know when everything's in working order.

Update: The Major just confirmed that the title update is live, and should be available worldwide in "a few minutes."

This DLC is so chock full of fail that you can't even play it after you buy it...

Are they going to release a patch that fixes the ability for some players to use three guns and four perks?

When you pay $15 for 3 new maps, don't be surprised when this kind of Karma is what you earn.

Wow, I didn't know about the 3 gun/4 perk hack. Why is this game so strongly affected by JTAG'ed 360's when it seems like no other ones are at all?

What in the world?!?!?!?!? Now I can't play anything until it updates, which it wont let me!!!!!

NOTE* DO NOT CLEAR YOUR SYSTEM CACHE IN MEMORY, IT WILL NOT LET YOU PLAY MW2 ONLINE AT ALL!!!!!!!
I went to clear my cache thinking it would help but it make MW2 not able 2 connect

Platinum_Skeet, I don't feel sorry for anyone briliant enough to buy a 15 dollar map pack for 3 new maps. Infact, I feel sorry for the professional care-takers that have to listen to them 'pwn-ing' 'noobz' before nappy time.

And nothing of value was lost.

Colors on screen are all messed up. It keeps freezing and the I have to reset my xbox. Thanks Infinity Ward. Test this she idiots.

But it's not funny at all...

The title update is not downloading for me, every time I try to download it I get a "update failed" message.

Getting the same problem with the update not downloading for me. All though I don't give a rats ass about the DLC. Not getting the DLC until it goes on sale AND I find a deal on MS points.

It isn't Activision's fault. Patch releases is Microsoft's business, and they are working on it.

Wouldnt normal procedure be to do the damn title update first instead of selling bricked DLC. I cant even go into a private match at all. If I try it locks up and requires reset.

well you know that's what we're waiting for. on a side note I'm not sure how they did it but I actually love sniping in this game first FPS ever that I can snipe woohoo.

I love sniping in ALL games....thats my thing...MAG, Killzone 2, Warhawk, Resistance 2, etc....BFBC2 just does it SO well...

Sniping in BFBC2 is easy because is not realistic like in MW2. Well at least I think sniping in MW2 is realistic, I'm not sure tho.

Firing a fifty caliber sniper rifle from the hip is not realistic.

Yeah, things like bullet drop certainly detract from the realism.

lol furthermore doing 360s complete with a headshot is also very realistic. seriously tho I could be wrong but I don't notice too much barrel sway in BC2 HOWEVER bullets are affected by gravity in BC2 and drop with distance so you have to aim high for the headshot. so not sure which one you'll cal more realistic.

I can say this sniping a chopper pilot mid flight and then picking off the fools floating to safety is just golden.

Still having a hard time bringing myself to paying $15 for three new (sub-par) map designs. Although knowing that none of them work right now will at least keep me feeling okay about not purchasing just yet.

I downloaded the maps. And while they are pricey, it's not AS bad as people are claiming. We will purchase numerous RB songs at $2 a pop, this game is asking $3 per map. Personally, I know that I'm going to get plenty more play time out of these maps than out of any RB song, definately enough to warrant one dollar extra as oppose to a song.

You actually make a pretty good point with the comparison (although with two pre-made ported maps it runs more like $5). It does make it a little easier to pay for them when compared to the music industry. Personally, I'm still going to wait for a price break before I get them.

You're assuming IW told Microsoft Certification that the patch needed to be out on the day of the map release. Not all games need it.

Internet: "This content is overpriced, shame on Activision. Let's all not buy this to send a message."

Activision press release next month: "The Stimulus Package has outpaced World at War's map packs as the fastest selling DLC ever."

Sad, but true :-(

thats cause the Internet population is a small voice compared to the vast amount of campers and 12 year olds that FLOCK to it and whine and bitch if mommy doesnt buy it.....

I got a better idea. Save your $15 and put it on Splinter Cell: Conviction.

That's what I did. Well... $5 went to Splinter Cell, the other $10 went to a delicious sandwich. But still, any $15 not spent on this map pack is $15 well spent.

Yep! I actually just grabbed it from the EA store for $20, too! suck it, MW2!

Unfortunate about that patching issue though. That's just poor coordination on all parties.
