This is one of those cases where we really want to share something magical with you, but fear the tremendous weight the Joystiq Biomass carries will crush the life out of the magical thing in question. Still, though we don't want to bring Nintendo's attention to this, we couldn't not share this incredible, homemade Advance Wars board game with you -- especially since you can print out all the assets and start playing it with your fellow tabletop enthusiasts immediately.
The name of the game is actually Skirmish Wars: Advance Tactics, but considering all of the art assets were straight yoinked from Intelligent Systems' series of turn-based strategy games, we don't actually think they're fooling anybody. Seriously, board game fiends -- grab this one while it's still grabbable.

God knows how much time I've wasted with Advance Wars 2.

I disliked Days of Ruin because of the CO/power set up. There were a few vastly overpowered COs, and most of the rest were mediocrity waiting to happen. I didn't mind the plot/tone so much, but didn't think it was any great shakes either.
In any case, this looks fun. Dunno if I'll print it all out, but awesome all the same.

This sounds so tempting.

You'd need some Popsicle sticks and large unit cutouts for when you engage in an attack.

Not to mention some BB pellets and some SFX to simulate the artillery shelling.
Oh, and check out the link for some pictures-

He even made a box for it, how neat!

It's only mechanics. If they use their own images and maintain the mechanics, they can't be sued.

Downloaded it. Thanks a bunch Joystiq! I really hope these guys don't take any damage for this popping up here.

This is pretty sweet. Always wanted to be a board game designer, and I made plenty based on video games during grade and high school. First year in college I made one based on AW Dual Strike, but it was nowhere near this good. And I LOVE the recent rise of 'downloadable' board games, excellent way to get your ideas out there.
Very nice job, hope this gives Nintendo incentive to hire the team and make an official one (and of course, not shut them down!). Might try this one out this weekend.

I sure wish more companies were like Capcom. They actually approve of and promote fan made projects at www.capcom-unity.com
But seriously, would Nintendo just get pissy about a board game? Wouldn't it be just like, if someone took offical artwork and photoshoped it into wallpaper to share?
But as for the board game, sounds awesome, but I wouldn't want to sap up printer ink, although I would totally buy it.
