while Thomas Tippl's new job is detailed as "the only executive reporting directly to Kotick" (and overseer of Blizzard head Mike Morhaime).

Uh oh...

"and direct our resources against the largest, most profitable business segments."

This makes it sound like they're trying to destroy the company franchises...oh, wait, it's Activision.

They need to shuffle Kotick's ass right out the door. Everything else is pointless until then.

This is ridiculous. They are doing exactly the same thing as US car industry in the 70's. Instead of upgrades and improvements bringing profit, they are stagnating and boosting profits through firing people...and Activision are going to end up on the same dump as GM, i bet

Here's hoping.

Incidentally... I wonder if this has anything to do with the Infinity Ward screwup...

Every time I see the Activision logo or read Kotick's name, all I ever hear is the "Imperial March".

Strange...I see him as on opressive 18th century landlord, whose manor is surrounded by angry villagers with torches...Oh, and he BLATANTLY eats children.

@Halgrimur
Awesome! it's kinda true it makes me think of the begining of Brotherhood of the wolf when the guys writing his memoirs while the mob gathers outside...... honestly if this were the 18th century this would end in a mob and a good old fashion hanging. Back then people were accountable with their necks.... why oh why do times have to change.

I hate to hear about people loosing their jobs, but, in this case, I can't help but wonder if these folk are being done a favor. It's apparent that Activision has lost all desire to be innovative and is instead hell bent on saturating the market with nothing but re-hashes of existing IP. And I am not even sure Blizzard can help them in this case (although, really, when was the last time Blizzard did anything that was not xCraft/Diablo related?)

Looks like Kotick's preliminary plans for World Domination are coming along rather swimmingly.

Good thing the government has Inspector Gadget on standby.

Can't everyone just stop talking about activision? For it to die silently? I just hate to see the Video Game Market exploited to no ends.

It's so easy to just not buy anything your are involved with. So easy.
