There's really no point in writing up other April Fools' Day jokes after this one -- Blizzard pretty regularly knocks this holiday out of the park. For instance, the company's recently added mobile page has announced two new titles for cell phones: Blackthorne 2: Thorne Harder, which will feature an "epic hard rock soundtrack" and "some sort of arbitrary Twitter and Facebook integration," and Queen's Quest, an old-school text adventure starring Starcraft's Queen of Blades, which plays host to a "revolutionary Digital Rights Management (DRM) scheme."
That's not all -- three new items will soon (not) be added to the Blizzard storefront: a Deckard Cain Snuggie, a Diablo 3 body pillow and a Deckard Cain GPS voice module. Also, World of Warcraft announced a new "Equipment Potency EquivalencE Number" (E-PEEN) for comparing players' weapons and armor, and a $15,000 "Battle.net Neural Interface" peripheral. See, other companies? Don't try to roll up here with your fake expansions and announcements of romance novels based on your game's protagonist. Blizzard's putting you to shame.

Its almost like they are trying too hard without putting in much effort? Last years Starcraft 2 Terran-building morphification into a massive robot was outstanding, brutally awesome, and it was something cool we could see in motion in-game. The Librarian for Diablo and the Tauren Marine were also awesome. This year its like "Ok, we don't have time to program a real April Fools day, so we'll come up with a top 10 list of stuff we can "announce" that requires no effort". After an hour of deliberation they went with option 11: All of the Above.
Not dissing Blizzard, i love them to death. I was just looking forward to this April Fools day prank and they let me down.

Yeah, I agree. None of these are as good as their prior years... or even the Virtua Fighter one.
Seems more like they did a shatter shot on this stuff and just hoped something would stick.
Oh well, I'm sure someone is gonna have something hilarious this year!

I'm more disappointed that somebody was looking forward to somebody else's April Fool's joke enough to be disappointed.

The fact that Blizzard included a picture of a woman sitting at a computer playing the box art of Warcraft III with a turntable and skull next to her makes this amazing to me. Does anyone else recall the Penny Arcade lambasting the Viewsonic (I think) ad, where the guy had a turntable and skull in the background?

Yes. 65,340,285xp, which should take us 7 weeks, 5 days, 13 hours and 20 minutes, giving ourselves 3 hours a night to sleep. What do you say, guys? You can jus... you can just hang outside in the sun all day tossing a ball around. Or you can sit at your computer playing World of Warcraft and do something that matters...

Why is Blackthorne 2 just a joke? I loved Blackthorne! Show me another game with a no-look shotgun move.

A revolutionary Digital Rights Management (DRM) scheme in 5 easy steps:
* Open the Spin-A-Spacer DRM application on any smart phone*
* Line up the spacer faces to reveal the page/word matrix value
* Consult your player guide / lore manual, and turn to the appropriate page
* Use the special 3d lenticular glasses to decode the margin text and find the keyword passphrase
* Enter the special passphrase into the on-screen prompt
* Speak “OK” clearly and audibly into the device’s audio input
* ENJOY! (Occassionally, you may be asked to call a toll-free 800 number to verify your identity)
Ubisoft is already reviewing these features for "DRM 2.0".

I remember when games actually had that kind of DRM, minus the yelling, and phone calls.

Just a heads up: Don't announce April Fools games that are more interesting than what you're actually making.

The Topeka name change is due to the mayor of Topeka changing the name of the city to Google not too long ago.
Also their Australian bit was pretty funny too.
