Not being sandbox doesn't bother me. If anything, it's adding sandbox style that shows off a developer's half-assedness. Case in point: Just Cause 2. Horrendous dialogue (like listening to a d-bag college kid imitate Al Pacino), painfully boring story, but throw in a decent sandbox and everyone praises it as gold. Like putting training wheels on bikes knowing most gamers dont know how to ride. If they would rather give an Uncharted-esque level based game knowing that there are FOUR OTHER SANDBOX SPIDER-MAN GAMES PEOPLE CAN PLAY, I'm all for it.

And the not renderring a trenchcoat comment only shows me the incompetance of gamers, not the developers. Rocksteady still to this day claims Batman's cape was "some of the worst developmental hell" in their two year production, and even in their award-winning final product they aren't happy with its end result. If a studio is going to add a coat, not have the time to properly handle it, and then watch as the basement dwellers further whine because Noir Spidey's right leg clips through his coat during animation frame #436-9, then why bother adding it? Use the time and manpower elsewhere.

And I agree on 2099 being at least another dimension; Zombies only because there's nothing left.

This game looks pretty damn awsome. My best guess for the other 2 universes are 2099 and for the other one, either Earth-X or Spider-Man Reign

A sandbox Spider-Man game requires a game that takes place entirely in New York, with hundreds of random city events (possibly via ongoing DLC to generate interest and $$$), bosses that also appear randomly and fought within the city and buildings, destructible environments, a rudimentary monetary system that incorporates Peter Parker's photography, the ability to be change between Peter and Spider-Man at will to finally give players the feeling of changing into a superhero, battle-damaged costume, a randomly generated quip (from hundreds) which allows Spider-Man to taunt his foes causing them to get angrier and less focused (which has ALWAYS been his secret weapon). The game would also feature 8-16 multiplayer gaming with a few Spider-Men (Spidey, Ben Reilly, Spider-Girl, Venom etc) versus boss characters - let loose in New York.

I would think nothing of spending $5 or $10 a month on a Spider-Man game that allowed me to tackle different events such as robberies, new bosses etc.

Any developers want to let me design the next game? I promise you, it will be the BEST superhero game ever made and I won't stop until it's finished. Until then, keep making garbage like Shattered Dimensions. Yes my idea(s) would take a team of a hundred + and a couple of years. But do you want the best Spider-Man game ever made, that generates cash through DLC events or lose your shirts on a game like Shattered Dimensions?

So despite Kotick's comment in this article, they aren't going to feature open-sandbox environments?

Yeah...

Im not exactly sure what to think about the game. I have been dying 4 a good Spider-man game and cant decide what to get. Should I wait 4 this or get Spider-man 2? I love sandbox types but, Noir looks pretty amazing.
