So... its two girls with a spanking paddle, which sounds really hot...

then starting to spank the ball of a fat guy (because he suffers from Elephantiasis of the testicle, and the other one got pushed off long ago)?

God that's scary as F***!!

While this award is very deserving, the next developer to get it obviously has to be Miyamoto. He single handedly revived the industry after it almost died out completely and noone of us would be playing games like we are today if not for him. PC hardware is half-driven by gaming advancements, we'd all be on old pentium 4's still if it wasnt for the gaming industry.

I don't know the history of these awards, and I don't know how eligibility is determined, but I have to say I disagree. Miyamoto has done a lot for video games, and created a lot of new ways to play them, and certainly he's deserving of any and all recognition for that . . . but ultimately, he didn't invent video games. Miyamoto turned a wheel into a tire, he innovated rather than invented, changing our relationship with preexisting ideas.

He saved the industry from demise, and industry thats driven PC and therefore console hardware development, which in turn affects modern technology in medicine and everything else. I'm not saying he will get it, but if any other developer is worthy, its him.

Well of course if any other developer is worthy, he's at least worth 1.5 of the lot of them . . . But that's just it, I don't think any other developer IS worthy of an inventors award award.

You're right in one thing though, he (not single handedly, mind) saved the industry. What he didn't do however, is invent it altogether. That inventor has just been recognized, and perhaps it's time to move on from video games for the Inventors Hall of Fame.

Yu Suzuki should be next. He was one of the key drivers to 3D, not to mention the man made amazing games.

I'm talking about game 3D, not the visual trickery. I thought that was pretty obvious...

What did Miyamoto invent?

Miyamoto deserves so many awards, but I think this is one he doesn't deserve. If anything, John Carmack should be the next one to get this award with his work on graphics rendering techniques, but even then, he wasn't the only one looking at 3-D as has already been mentioned.

Sorry, but as great as all these developers are, in the end none of them are really inventors like Baer was.

Baer was the frst game developer, in terms of games as we know them. Tennis for Two was played on an oscilloscope, and Spacewars! was played on a giant, cabinet-sized computer that no one but research labs would have had.

If we wanna get technical, he was the first console developer, at the very least. :V

So that's what that building was next to the hotel I was staying at in DC. It didn't look all that great from the outside, I thought it was some guy's hobby.

Generally speaking, I can't stand "super adults," but I would totally cruise behind this dude's weaving car, doing 30 in a 45, and I wouldn't utter a single inappropriate comment.

I ended up getting a free ticket to video games live in Tucson and they surprised us with a live Skype call to Mr. Baer. He's an amazing guy and I hope he's around for a very long time.

He actually didn't invent Pong, he invented TV Tennis as part of the Magnavox Odyssey and also the means of a video game interacting with a television to begin with. Al Alcorn invented Pong at Nolan Bushnell's request after witnessing a demonstration of the Magnavox Odyssey. Hate to be picky there. Of course, good ol' Ralph turned around and stole Simon from Nolan, which I still think is pretty funny. Had the good fortune of interviewing him a few years back when he first was putting out his book. Great guy, and definitely underappreciated. Good to see him getting the recognition he deserves. The sheer amount of inventions he's done is amazing.

i actually got to meet Mr. Baer on Thursday at a Video Games Live concert. He came up on stage and they explained the history of who he was and what he created. They had the Brown Box on stage and a young kid from the audience got to play a game of "Pong" (not really pong) with him.
Glad he was inducted. He is truly historical.

Gunpei Yokoi would have to be the next developer worthy of this award. He created the Gameboy, not to mention working on Donkey Kong and Mario with Miyamoto.

God plays Pong! I know, I saw it when I was alpha testing Dante's Paradiso at EA.

Also, are there video games that are not interactive? Arent those game shows?
