Man, I'd completely forgotten about The Great Lakes Avengers. What fools they were to refuse Rico and his amazing abilities!

You can really see the thought processes in bringing the Great Lakes Avengers into the world

"Okay: we've got New York Avengers and West Coast Avengers. Where can we stick more Avengers?"

the pokemon effect is so true. I'm a freshman in college right now and lots of people play pokemon and there is no judgment. I feel that in highschool people are too busy trying to fit in and think that hating on "childish" things makes them cool. In reality pokemon is a timeless classic that can be played by all ages.

"Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."

That comic is very true.

In high school everyone was obsessed with playing GTA (I was a Nintendo guy personally so GTA did nothing for me but even I tried to get more 'mature' at some stage by buying Tony Hawk) because it was a mature game, and disregarded anything that wasn't. Now I'm at university, people don't really care what people do, and when I played an emulator of Pokemon Blue in halls on my laptop, all it did was induce a massive conversation about how awesome Pokemon was when we were younger. Actually, since starting university, I've had a few unrelated requests to find a way to play Pokemon on their computer, and then showing them how to emulate Gameboys in the process.

C.S. Lewis spent 26 hours trying to capture an Aslan. He went through 300 Pokeballs because he accidentally wasted his Master Ball on a naked demon woman from Venus.

Gotta say, no one got any hassle for playing Pokemon in high school. Sure, it wasn't as wide spread as in elementary school. But no one cared what you played in high school.

Yeah, I agree, but I probably only found it funny since I had actually read it.

For those who didn't get the last joke (the mouseover one), women are straight lines in Flatland and a circle is a priest.

You don't want to ride on the bang bus. People always get off the bang bus looking a little more soulless than when they boarded.

It was a tie between Virtual Shackles and AWKWARD ZOMBIE for me this week, but ultimately I sided with AWKWARD ZOMBIE. It might not have been as funny, but damn it all if it wasn't insightful.

I'll agree with Grey_Ryuk, as the Pokemon experience has been similar going into College from high school. College is a lot like that, as long as you don't bother with other people they won't bother with you

Brawl in the Family was rather ill-conceived this week. A rare miss.

While I did enjoy the Pokemon effect, I just happened to be playing Just Cause 2 earlier and was wondering where the hell all those parachutes came from. I should have known he was a superhero.

Also, I'm not much of an artist, but I thought I'd share my new comic with you guys,
the Not Necessarily About Video Games Installation 04 Official Webcomic.

Awkward Zombie.

While I love HailNeko-Yasha's work, the comic itself today is all true!

Loved the phenomenon back in the day, felt awkward about it in High school, and now in college, everybody and their cousins are playing it!

At first I wanted to vote for XKCD because I had read it earlier in the week and liked it, but then I read PA and wanted to vote for that.

Then I came across two exceptional Pokemon comics and my heart was torn. I had now at least 3 comics I knew I was going to vote for, and 1 that I originally thought I might vote for.

So I went with PA since I knew the two Pokemon comics would win anyways and I figured XKCD gets more than enough love as is.

Virtual Chackles' isn't original, but it WAS a bit funny when that notion was new.

The others are crap.

I really want to play the game referenced by XKCD, but checking out the creator's site shows that it's not finished yet! Not fair!

Also, anyone who hasn't read Flatland should go find a copy, buy it immediately, go find a nice quiet place and read it straight through. It's quite the short book, but so wonderfully unique it deserves a place in your library. Should be cheap pretty much anywhere you would find it too.
