It's fairly amazing that multi-tasking still needs to be on a poll like this.

it's also amazing that there is a poll about a phone OS, on joystiq.

no offense, i know it's a blog, not a news site, but there is a sister site known as engadget where this can be posted.

well whether you like it or not, the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad *ARE* used for lots of gaming, so they're gonna be mentioned on Joystiq. Whatever happens at the event will affect you if you have any of those 3 devices.

There's also a sister site known as Engadget that is tech focused and filled with Apple trolls of both camps. Joystiq, the gaming focused sister, can oh . . . say . . . may, I don't know . . . focus specifically on the gaming aspect of the iPhone OS?

If you want to comment on the article and not be drowned in a sea of Apple trolling, and above all, comment on the gaming aspect, I say it's a good thing it's on Joystiq.

Joystiq is meandering into Engadget territory with iPad/iPhone "news" because Kotaku's been enjoying success treading on Gizmodo's turf by doing the same thing.

Between it being an unbelievably slow news day, the fact that the last iPhone OS update added a bunch of stuff to the game SDK, and that we wanted to pimp Engadget's forthcoming coverage of the event, we wrote this piece. I actually initially contested it's newsworthiness, but was convinced of its relevance by the aforementioned criteria. Sorry if you didn't dig it!

It doesn't matter to me. Apple's just going to dump support for first gen devices, which means that soon the devices won't be able to buy Apps, which means it's time to switch to a Zune HD or something.

That's where Apple and MS differ on their MP3 players....sure it took MS years to get the Zune out but at least they have supported the first Zunes since launch....giving it games and more

*iFart is Dolby Surround compatible, includes abundance of different farts. DLC provides additional rich sound effects accompanying various farts.

Really, multitasking is a gaming feature now? Really? 99% of the games I have on my iPod save their state when I exit them anyway (LineUp 2 is the exception, it just quits), so multitasking isn't going to really net me much beyond slowing down the other app I'm now trying to use in the foreground.

If this is anything like the ipad presser they'll just show us the same OS we've been using, and demo the same features we've been using for the last year while calling them "magical" and "revolutionary".

Look, it syncs to your computer! Turn it sideways and you picture turns sideways!!!

An xbox live style login would kinda be cool, in that it would draw people to buy more games to show off their gamertrophs or whatever they get. And then the game devs would get money. And then make more games. To keep making money. To make

This man knows what he is talking about.

While other companies innovate, Apple just sticks a lowercase "i" infront of a product, and all the sheep run out to buy it, while all these "journalists" do nothing but jerk-off to their mediocre devices.

Apple is in the same position they were when Windows became the leader of the market, and Jobs is making the same mistakes.

@ Blight - Jobs wasn't at Apple when Windows became the leading consumer OS.
------

@ All - Wait until Thursday before you start declaring a platform dead, or bitching about innovation, or claiming they are making the same mistakes as they did in the nineties. Competition is good, Android gaining such serious market share with multiple devices launching left and right could be just the thing to kick start Apple into overhaul mode.

A TRIM function. Drives don't delete data, but on a SSD drive, the controller still keeps track of it even though the OS doesn't. This slows the system down tremendously. Microsoft solved this in Windows 7 (and with a tool for their other OS lines) called TRIM that breaks that driver controller reference. The iPhone desperately needs that, especially the slow as shit first generation.
