So around $0.83.

Not quite the $15 people were complaining about, but better than nothing I guess.

Looks like Microsoft...

*puts on sunglasses*

...made a very half-hearted deal that many people believe does not compensate for the $15 and early-glitchiness of the stimulus package as a whole.

I kept seeing that ad on the dashboard for getting a reward. And this is what they give? One of the most profitable developers and games, and all they can do is a week of gold? I know this is more of an MS deal but c'mon. A week? I'm baffled by what people call "rewards" these days.

you know ad block only hurts Joystiq and all of your favorite sites? if these ads arent being seen your favorite sites cant make enough money to stay online.

Ads don't hurt and they arent intrusive so just live with them. Joystiq is a great site and free to read, not to mention they love giving back to us so dealing with a ad shouldnt be to much to ask of us.

Ads do hurt, malicious ones can try to feed you a trojan, or more commonly, just be annoying, distracting, and slow down your computer.

no shit, but if you want to go to a site with ads like that then that's at your own risk. i'm talking about legitimate websites losing money because of ad blocker. Read this

yes ads are annoying, but i read this article on arstechnica about how adblockers hurt a website. basically, most ads work by views, not clicks, so Adblock+ causes them not to get any views from you. but at the same time, you're using their bandwidth, so you're kind of a drain on the website. personally i only disable Adblock+ for websites i really love - the only two right now are Arstechnica.com and Joystiq.com.

why you guys hating on Solace so much? seriously, read the article.

just leave Adblock on be default, and only disable it for sites you really love and trust. like i said, for me that's just Joystiq and Arstechnica. not a big deal.

Well, Ads are fine. I have never minded banner ads and such. But when you start getting into insanely annoying flash ads and marquee flash ads which COVER the articles that are being written by the website hosting them, it gets old.

SO LAME. How about giving the people the 400 MS points they got raped out of. Will there be a 400 point IW tax on every map pack for future IW games?

This is likely the last infinity ward game. Call of Duty 2011 is going to Visceral. Don't expect many of the IW guys to stick around after Activision pays them the money they owe, they'll bail out and form a new developer, just like they did when they had trouble with EA over Medal of Honor.

There's a reason they won't refund 400 points. The morons were dumb enough to spend $15 for the maps. Anyone who bought this map pack should be euthanised...

"And for nothing but a minor inconvenience."

I would consider the inability of the matchmaking to find any games at all to be a major inconevience.

On topic: I don't think anyone was expecting Microsoft (if anyone) to reimburse the buyers, but a weeks worth of Xbox LIVE probably costs them nothing. So i'd agree that this is pretty flimsy. Honsetly they should have just left it alone and not offered anything cause now their comming off as being cheap.
