Sega is right for Bayonetta: that's why their porting for PS3 is so hot.
Sega has lost since PSO. The closed servers for PSU are a clear proof of Sega's fail-game-policy.
Best regards from a ps3 owner + once sega's fan

I'll agree that the company is star-crossed - both in game development and finacially; but they still do some great stuff.

Bayoneta is terrible port worse even than Orange Box or Bioshock.

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/4661/bayonettafaceoffhdstrea.jpg

Not only textures looks like they are in 1/4 resolution, framerate - the most important in slasher - is between 1/2 to 1/3! of X360 version.
When it works on PS3 in 20fps (where X360 keeps around 60fps) in heated moments thats simply a joke in this kind of games.

Anyway comparisons are merciless for PS3 port.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-bayonetta-faceoff

So they better not think about such "quality" with Mad Word and any other games.

@WINterfang

The patch that had to be made by Sony?
The one that ONLY adressed terrible loading times?
http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/18/sega-considering-bayonetta-ps3-patch-to-address-long-load-times/
It doesn't fix anythiong else.
Sorry.

But the question is why; Why didn't PG do anything about the port of their own game when they acknowledged it had problems? It's these kinds of things that frustrate your other buyers and may cause you to lose them next time (ex, the upcoming Vanquish). These problems of whether you'll get the same experience didn't exist when they were doing exclusives.

Not enough money I think.

Good programmers that know hard to program Cell are still rare = pricey.

And the most of them preffer to work in more stable firms - like internal Sony studios.

Anyway such terrible ports are rare and most multiplatforms now (even if most are still slightly better on easier to program and having stronger GPU X360) are MUCH closer to parity than in those early years when Cell programming was Voodoo like mystery.

Well, Bayonetta was still worth playing on PS3 despite its many issues (Once it went down in price not long after release). And since the game sold more on PS3 than on 360 I'm sure Platinum games will make Bayonetta 2 work well on both consoles.

Beware of that PR bull$h1t of "leading platform"
PR touted Ghostbusters leading platform as PS3
http://talkplaystation.com/ps3-is-lead-platform-for-ghostbusters

And you know how it ended:
http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/17/ghostbusters-on-ps3-lags-behind-360-version-developer-explains/

Talk is chap.
Similiar to mentioned earlier Bioshock - PR is worthless and in many cases simply false.

Well, thank Jebus I only rented Bayonetta.... I couldn't return the game fast enough. It looks horrible on the PS3, and you can barely tell what is going on during the action.

I'd rather the game be an exclusive than have to play a shitty port on one console.

Well the lack of commercial success for MadWorld wasn't due to the game being bad... Well reviewed, and in my opinion a very very good game. Can't wait to see it on PS3, or 360.

If your idea of a good game is an announcer who repeats himself ever 5 minutes, and very repetitive action, then yes, it was an awesome game.

Would be interesting to see Mad World put on the 360 and see what the sales figures look like. If it was a lot larger on the 360, would be a lot of proof that the Wii really is done catering to the core market.

There you shall see rage and hate the likes of which you have never seen before, so much so that it will harrow your very soul. @Foetoid

You notice that the common thread between the games you listed is that the majority of those games are either not released yet, or released fairly recently. Nintendo released the Wii without many of those games and as a result built up a fanbase of casual gamers and very young children. Before the random person pops up with "But wait! I'm a hardcore gamer and I have a Wii. HA you are proven wrong sir!" you should realize that you an exception to the rule, a minority, an outlier.

Nintendo have nothing to do with bringing in more mature gamers. They themselves, if anything, do a GREAT job of it, with all the Mario games, the Metroid games, 2 Zelda games on 1 home console, Xenoblade, The Last Story and Sin and Punishment 2 being developed by them alone, nevermind the Wii happens to have the 1 game in history with the most profanity (House of the dead Overkill), one of the goriest games ever (Madworld), and other fantastic titles like Dead Space: Extraction, Re4 (the best version of it), Red Steel 2, Muramasa and Monster Hunter 3. It's the 3rd party developers too afraid to invest in a hardcore Wii titles and market it appropriatly. Red Steel 2 and Monster Hunter 3 seems to be the main exceptions. All Nintendo did is provide a control scheme that not only works amazingly for hardcore titles, but works even better for casual games.

Thank you, Foetoid, for providing the Nintendo Company Line.

Let me tell you this. I'm a pretty hardcore gamer. I've got the NES, SNES, and N64. I love those consoles and the Nintendo games on them. However, something happened in the Gamecube era. I don't like what Nintendo does these days. It's not appealing, interesting, or even fun. I borrowed a Wii from a friend and played several games for a few hours. I was so disgusted I returned the thing that day.

And it's not that I hate Nintendo, as I love the DS and it's titles.

TL;DR version: I didn't leave Nintendo, Nintendo left me.

I think Blight is right ;o)
I am been the biggest fan of Nintendo's early years. The SNES kicked ass as well as the N64. Its disappointing, but I gotta say I haven't bought a new Wii game since Mario Kart. I've actually left it at home for my little sisters to play with. They enjoy playing DDR, Littlest Pet Shop, and Block Party. Quality Games lemme tell you what. This is the problem. Where's the new IPs? Eventually, sequels and remakes aren't gonna bring in the cash except, or course, the Marios, Zeldas, and Metroids. Nintendo has their foot all the way down on the pedal and they aren't changing their course for anyone :o(

Lol Jelly. You didn't just ask where the new IPs are did you when they're bringing Xenoblade and The Last Story out, as well as already did Disaster Day of Crisis, Trauma Centre and rebooting Sin and Punishment. Even the normal IPs are newly reworked. Mario Galaxy is rated as the 2nd best game of all time and for good reason, Metroid Other M is taking that excellent franchise in an excellent new direction, even Super Paper Mario is significanty different from the other Paper Mario Games. Other franchises like Zelda and Smash Bros don't even NEED to be significantly changed to still be excellent games. Not only did i just list new IPs, but showed that Nintendo doesn't even NEED new IPs to provide excellent games.

Almost everyone i know who had played the game or looked at it, heck i've asked at least 2 dozen people, they have all said they aren't interested because its black and white. Half those people own Wiis, and they won't buy it being black and white. I keep telling them its meant to be presented in a comic book fashion and the black and white graphics accentuate the blood, but they won't listen. Perhaps this is most of the problem?

I played it, and it turns into a grindfest. The art is great, but gets hard on the eyes after a while. The kills and the voice acting both get really old, really quickly.

Its not a bad game, but a really average game. It loses its novelty halfway through the game.
