Quantum Theory set for 'summer' release

What are you doing this summer? Oh, you're going to Six Flags? Screw that, you're going to want to blow stuff up ... and punch junk ... and play Gears of War 3 instead, right? Okay, we can't help you with that last one, but VG247 reports that a very similar experience will be available this summer: Quantum Theory.

A Tecmo Koei spokesperson confirmed to us that the game is set for "a TBA Summer 2010" release. Previously, the game was set to release sometime in March, but was pushed back due to quality concerns. We're sure you can't wait to see Tecmo's, uh, softer side.

Ok, please tell me how many games these days are THAT unique that they don't borrow and clone other games? People like you need to stop saying "Gears clone" and take a game for what it is, by itself, and quit your bitching.

It's not to say I don't enjoy clones from time to time, but this is on a different level. It's almost like a project, some sort of case study of Gears they did to learn, but then just decided to roll wit it.

Can someone honestly tell me that, judging from this video, this game looks even remotely fun?

I'm not sure what looked more exciting... The 1 minute+ load screens or the actual gameplay... :|

Just tired of hearing "clone, clone, clone" when people can't just play a game and enjoy it for what it is. Look at Call of Duty, BFBC1-2, Medal Of Honor, and countless other shooters. All practically clones. Yet those games are taken on a game by game level. People just need to stop screaming "clone!" at everything and just play the game.

@Fatbig: Did anyone say they didn't have grounds to sue? I'm sure they could try if they felt they needed to. I don't think they'd win though.. Look at all the knock-off movies like "Transmorphers". Rip-off, but no one's getting sued...

@Chibi Minigun: If you're saying Quantum Theory is a rip off of Gears of War. Then why isn't Gears being accused of ripping off these 2 games.

This isn't 'like' Gears of War, it looks like the same game, holy crap. I realise Unreal 3 engine games tend to look similar (usually), but wow, that's... something.

I think Gears of War copied God of War with the title and the GOW abbreviation.

So because there is a cover system and a dark looking environment, this is a clone of Gears? Is it because one of the main characters is a big meat head? Hmm weird. I didn't know that Gears was the first to have any of these.

Does one of your allies in Gears have a sword and can you throw them at people?
Does Gears take place in a 'living tower'?

Big deal.. there are a few similiarities but Gears wasn't the first with any of these. Maybe some people need to just stop comparing games and start thinking for yourselves. I know it's a lot to ask to try to look at video games and not make comparisons to other ones but i'm sure you can do it. It's not really that hard to look at games and review them as individual items.

i bet quantum theory online will be better, not in term of gameplay but lag and time finding a match

A lot of games copy other games aslong as the story different it doesnt bother me, im mean Epic admits they copyed from Killswitch really epic doesnt have the moral high ground here, people are only moaning cause it x box game,

I just excited that a japanese dev is making a shooter for a change
