Speaking to CVG, THQ core games exec Danny Bilson revealed that he's got quite an ambitious idea for Microsoft's upcoming Project Natal peripheral; specifically, he cites plans for a "core game" that leverages Natal's motion-sensing tech "in a really, really cool way." That said, Bilson intimates that the budget for such a game -- which he estimates to be from $30-40 million -- would prevent the game from being released before the Natal install base is large enough to support it. Still, he adds, "The concept I have uses every corner of that tech and maybe in a couple of years we'll do it."
Whatever Bilson's mystery project is, he certainly seems excited by the technology. Just last week, Bilson was talking up another project that THQ plans to announce at E3, which may or may not be the "super awesome" and "physically active" Natal project he told Joystiq about during GDC. THQ was also one of the first companies to reveal it had been working on Natal dev kits when Microsoft first announced the peripheral last year.

Natal is very high risk, but that being said, I wasn't expecting THQ to be the ones that create a Natal defining title.

I hope for the life of me they aren't planning a WWE Natal game, it was bad enough thrashing around on Wii, I got through 2 matches before it got old, let alone an entire career mode season ¬_¬
Will not work. Think outside the box, please don't go for the obvious, that just turns off fans.

If any game was going to convince me to buy Natal, it would have been Halo Reach, but apparently its not, I'm guessing thats because it would be restricted by Natal, and thats probably the same issue most popular games will have. If that becomes the case, I'm not interested, however, if its for some other reason that Reach doesnt have it, then maybe, just maybe I might reconsider.

If anything was going to prove the credibility of Natal, it would have been Halo. Thier lack of faith in their own product ability to perform well makes me feel on edge about it myself. So what? Introduce a whole new IP for Natal so that game's reputation gets tarnished instead if it doesnt work out?

I suppose so, but how then would you sell something without a big blockbuster to go with it, only so many people will be tempted by the silly mini games, how then do you convince hardcore gamers that they should have faith in your new product.
I can understand why hey might try to avoid implementing it in Reach, but its Halo I'm interested in seeing it used in, if I can see that I can effectivly throw grenades, dual weild, all while riding the back of a warthog, then consider me sold and feel free to take my preorder now :D

OMG. TONY HAWKE RIDE EXCEPT WITHOUT THE SKATEBOARD. HOW GOOD WOULD THAT BE?
Not only will it not be able to function very well, but now it'll be even MORE inaccurate as Natal isn't 1:1!!!!
Think of how jealous your friends will be when your skateboard results in even more hilarious moments as you try to skate around only to fail miserably when Natal fails to even pick up that you're moving your feet!

So basically we'll never see this game... Taking the fact that it will be about 1 year before we know if natal will have a sizable install base or not. Then they'll green light the game, and it'll be another 2 years in development. So the soonest we'd see this game is 3 years after Natal is released. By then what ever idea Bilson dreamed up will be "old hat", or a bad idea.
Not to mention that any original IP published by THQ will sell less than expected despite its quality.

I really don't give this generation more than 2 years.. So I doubt THQ will develop it for this gen.
2012 all 3 consoles will release next gen, I have no doubt about this.. By next gen you will have natal 2.0 which will be good, for the xbox next pre-bundled.
Sony will have stereoscopic cameras that basically do the same as natal. Nintendo also possibly will have the same tech
All 3 consoles will have 3d support and processing power will at least double..
This sort of tech with 3d would be good I think. I think completely controller-less makes no sense Microsoft will also realise this and also release a ps move / wii mote equivalent.. Basically both technologies will completely merge to give accurate 1:1 hand and body tracking with very precise hand tracking which is the most important thing.
Then you will see THQ take the risk and build this game, it would be able to be ported to more than just 1 platform so the risk is mitigated for the publishers.
This is the exact reason why I think Sony will win big with Move, by having a platform similar to the wii, it mitigates risk for publishers they have 2 platforms to target not just one. They should have released the move last year though they have taken too long to release it.
