Dark Void Zero landing on iPhone and PC April 12 [update]

The reception for Dark Void may have been lukewarm at best, but the "8-bit" spin-off/marketing endeavor, Dark Void Zero, was enjoyed by most who played it. Realizing that such an experience shouldn't be exclusive to one platform, Capcom has announced iPhone and PC users can download the game starting April 12. ~~Pricing has not been announced yet, so we're following up with Capcom on that.~~ [Update: Capcom has confirmed it'll cost $2.99 on iPhone and $5 on PC.]

And if you're holding out for Xbox Live and PSN, know that Capcom currently has no plans for those platforms. However, back during CES, a Capcom producer told Joystiq that they'd "love to do it."

iPhone is getting full of crap. Not to say Dark Void is crap on iPhone. Just seems people are releasing anything and everything they can on this thing. Shovelware and every spin-off they can think of.

My guess is because it cost them little to nothing to do so and all they need is for the game to sell a few hundred and they make their money back

So what you're saying is, iPhone is the Wii of cellphones :-P

At least the Wii is cheaper.

But not nearly as useful.

Both have their pros and cons.

Love getting down voted for hating on shovelware.

I hope the only reason this isn't coming to XBLA and PSN yet is that they are planning to include it with the remake 'Dark Void Zero: Rearmed.' That would be heaven, shame GRIN doesn't exist to make it anymore.

Seriously one of the best games of the year so far, IMO. I'd buy a DSi just to play it again had they not gone and announced the 3DS - So I'm happy it's coming to PC and iPhone for now.

Is this really that good? I've been wondering what I should spend my 1000 free points (the ones that come with a new DSi) on, and I've been thinking about this one for a while.

As a big retro gamer, and a huge fan of anything remotely Metroidvania, I thought it was brilliant, and I think it's only 500 points too.

If you like classic games (gameplay mechanics, graphics, chiptunes, and all) and you like games like Metroid and Metroid II, Bionic Commando, Gargoyle's Quest I and II, and Castlevania I, II, III, and Dracula X, it's definitely worth at least half your points, maybe even the lot of them if it were priced more.

dark void zero hit up all the great nostalgia from retro gaming. it was as addicting and just as fun only this time, i'm better at those kinds of games since i grew up and got more experienced

Oh man, thanks for reminding me of Gargoyle's Quest. That was my favorite Gameboy game. Well, besides Tetris...

I LOVE Dark Void Zero on DSi Ware. But having played other 2D side-scrollers on iPhone/iPod, I'll pass. Without real buttons, this game is gonna suck. :(

That's what I was thinking too.This is like the one game I'm kinda sad about not having a DSi for (and Game and Watch.) Looks like I might just have to skip it altogether.

FINALLY! I love how they announced this like eons ago, and we're only now hearing about the release. PC it is, I guess. I'll have to get my Dual Shock working on it again.

I just remembered that it should be coming out soon... Checked the app store, no dvz. Came back here to search for it, cause I couldn't remember the release date, and it's today!! Gonna keep checking in.

No XBLA/PSN? Do you hate money, Capcom? Guess I'll have to get it on PC, but I can guarantee you I won't be paying for it...
