Monster Hunter sneaks into Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

Kojima Productions recently held a press conference in Japan to celebrate the completion of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which is set to shed its cardboard box cover for a very visible spot on Japanese store shelves come April 29. During the event, it was revealed that there would be Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G content in the Konami-published game. The collaboration should ensure that every Japanese citizen will now buy Peace Walker, regardless of whether they own a PSP (that's just how it works). 1UP confirms the content will also be in the US version of the game.

Monster Hunter's Felynes -- little cat-like things that act as support in Capcom's title -- will have a presence in Peace Walker. On top of that, some of the rations in Hideo Kojima's latest sneak-'em-up will appear as "well-cooked rations," a play on Monster Hunter's well-cooked meat. Also: Snake will hunt monsters, so ... yeah. Kojima justified the crazy crossover by playing the Jurassic Park card -- specifically, that Peace Walker takes place in Costa Rica. "I figured it'd be the perfect opportunity," he told Japanese mag Famitsu.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be out in Europe and North America on May 28 and June 8, respectively. To check out some footage from the Monster Hunter unveiling, pay a visit to the Kojima Productions website.

Best picture ever. Now I want the next metal gear to have raging cloned dinosaurs. Makes as much sense as it ever did but it would be so fun.

This kind of remainded me of Dino Crisis. I guess Costa Rica and Ibis Island must be on the same region.

Is it too much to hope that Capcom takes a hint and starts working on Dino Crisis 4?

But to do that, they have to acknowledge Dino Crisis 3 existed. And that's a piece of shit people just forgot about and moved on with thoughts like "Hey, remember that two game series Dino Crisis? Yeah, that was awesome and completely devoid of jetpacks and space stations... good times.

It's pretty sad how DC3 turned out. I feel sorry for microsoft if they paid to have DC3 exclusive for the original xbox, the game was a huge disappointment.

It would be sick if they release a new DC on the currently generation consoles.

Certainly one of the more interesting collaborations i can think of recently.

Snake is a mega cash cow this year with all kinds of ad tie-ins that make the Phantasy Star Portable stuff look low key.

But he's well liked so it's not like this wasn't going to happen anyway.

I never liked the Metal Gear Solid series.

Assuming you mean bottom left of the text, since there is no kanji in the bottom left of the image, that's "yume," which means "dream." It's a dream collaboration.

I learnt it last summer, but then put off kanji and ended up not getting back to it and forgetting all the kana. Ka ki ku ke ko. I hope they make control options that are optimized for using the dual shock controller with the PSP Go.

For some reason I feel as if they already revealed that. Or maybe I'm remembering that as being something people wanted. Definitely would be a cool option though, working in tandem with the tv-out feature.
