UFC Undisputed 2010 demo's fighters and modes detailed

Man, THQ sure knows how to make a hard sell with its playable demos. The company which set a new industry standard for demo length with its trial version of Darksiders has wisely chosen to include four brilliantly named fighters in its demo for UFC Undisputed 2010: Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida, Rashad "Sugar" Evans and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. With literally zero knowledge of the sport of Ultimate Fighting, we're placing our bets on Mr. Sugar to take home the ... the belt, we guess? The title? The pennant?

The demo, which will feature an Exhibition mode and a local multiplayer Tournament mode, hasn't received a release date, though the game's community blog claims "we'd like to release the demo a full month before Undisputed 2010 hits store shelves on both PSN and Xbox Live." The game's due out on May 25 -- feel free to extrapolate from there.

It is too bad Brock Lesnar gets all this attention for being a low skilled fighter who has n't fought since who knows when. Other than that...looking forward to the game.

Here's the deal noobs: Lesnar was 1-1 in the UFC before getting his title shot. He only got his shot against Couture because he is a huge PPV draw. Then, he fought Mir to unify the titles at UFC 100 and won because of his size. So, even though consensus rankings have him at #2 in terms of HW's in MMA he is still green and in my opinion until he runs through Carwin, Dos Santos & Velasquez he isn't worthy of being distinguished as the #2 HW in MMA. In fact, in my last HW rankings I had him closer to 5th. 1. Fedor 2. Dos Santos 3. Velasquez 4. Overeem 5. Lesnar 6. Carwin 7. Mir 8. Rogers 9. Noguiera 10. Barnett (yes I know he's a roider but still one of the best)

I don't think Lesnar beats Carwin and I know for a fact he won't beat Velasquez or Dos Santos.

You're banana crazy if you rank Overeem ahead of Lesnar. Ubereem has fought cans outside the states since gaining a suspect amount of muscle mass after he beat Paul Buentello for the strikeforce strap.

Ranking Cain behind JDS is weird too, Cain has beaten better competition and has a title shot waiting, JDS is fight Nelson in a legit test of his BJJ growth

I've heard good things about these games... perhaps I might try to get this one.

The sport is called Mixed Martial Arts, not 'Ultimate Fighting'.

to be fair...UF does have some of its own 'unique' rules. Lets call it UFMMA.

The sport is still called MMA regardless of any individual promotional rules. Strike force doesn't allow elbows on the ground but it's still MMA.

That would be like saying Bad Company 2 isn't a FPS because it has tanks.

Except that Shogun basically destroyed Machida once already but got robbed by the judges.

Man I never thought Brock Lesner was really going to do anything in the UFC but wasn't he the champion at one point. I only now started following. Also Lyoto makes me want to yell Combra Kai Never die.

Lesnar is the current HW champion. He had a bout with divulertriclitus (spelling?) which caused him to miss some time which is why Carwin fought Mir for the "Interim" HW title at UFC 111. Carwin fights Lesnar on July 3rd for the title.

I cannot wait for July 3. That fight will be epic.

I love explaining it to these people.

Basically, Rampage was the champ until he lost a bogus decision to Griffin whom then got knocked out by Evans, who was then knocked out by Machida, who then won a VERY controversial decision against Rua. So, we have a 4 man tournament where the winner of Machida vs Rua fight the winner of Rampage vs Evans. My take is we'll an old Pride rematch of Rua vs Rampage where Quinton will get his revenge like he did against Wanderlei. At the end of the day I think that Jon Jones or Anderson Silva will get the title shot after this mini tournament is completed. Obviously, SIlva won't fight Machida so assuming Lytoto retains the belt it'll be Bones Jones fighting for the title in about a year.

Personally don't mind any 4 of the guys holding the belt. My favorite is Lyoto tho but he got a lot of shit after the Shogun fight. I'll be rooting for Lyoto again.

Don't know why I am bothering because you are obviously just trolling. But do you really think that NFL players are some kind of super athletes that America is just lucky enough to have in thier country?

The UFC has olympic level athletes that compete in in nobody can question thier athletism.

As for the bouncer statement if you look at regional show that you will find some bouncers and other people of that ilke. But at the UFC level most people in America come from the collegiate wrestling arena. Or they have a solid base in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu which is probaly the hardest martial art in the world to get a black belt in.

As for Hersh he is good athlete but don't delude yourself he could ever make a career out MMA he only got paid $300 for his fight. Because that is frankly all he is worth in what skill he brings to MMA.

not for nothing, Hershel's reported salary was minimalistic because he had his entire regular purse donated to charity. The amount was not disclosed to the Athletic Commission, but it was a six digit figure that went to Project Turnaround.

There are numerous ex-nfl players in MMA. Non of them are particularly good. There are ex-pro boxers in MMA. None of them have done particularly well. There are TONS of national champion wrestlers and Olympic quality Judo players in mma. Some of them have done a bit better/well.

Is everyone in MMA a world class athlete? No, of course not, but there's a reason for that; MMA is fundamentally skill driven.

An MMA fighter has to have knowledge equal to the summation of all the positions on a football field, along with the skill set to implement each of the myriad techniques in MMA in an effective manner.

The Machida vs. Rua fight was definitely a great fight, but Rua didn't put on a good enough fight and make it a clear enough victory to receive the title for it. I definitely believe that if it wasn't a title fight, Shogun would've walked away the winner.

People who use the same old tired quips about the MMA ("oh great, another game featuring sweaty men in tights humping eachother", etc) are so obviously closet homosexuals who are insecure with their own sexuality.

i think lyoto will win again against shogun. He won the first time bc he did so much countering, but he'll need to do more this next time around.
