One of the best game series ever created. Best multiplayer, singleplayer, and co-op experience.

One of the best stories in gaming.

Yes, one of the best universes ever crafted.

Lemme guess. You are going to say that Metal Gear Solid, or Killzone 2 is better?

I was thinking more along the lines of Zelda... or Metroid... or Uncharted... or Batman... or anything not Halo.

I mean, Halo's not bad, but don't kid yourself. Anyway, Imma shut up now. Have fun.

lol, really?

Zelda - story hasn't changed since the first game. Save the princess and defeat evil... Wow great story!

Batman - Save Arkham Asylum... great story!

Uncharted 2 - Oh, look, lets find some treasure... great story!

Thanks for proving my point once again. None of those games you mentioned have books, comic books, videos, etc... etc... based on them. Batman is based on a comic so obviously it is an exception.

Wiizer, I'm in no way agreeing with this troll, but Halo does have a great story. The expanded universe is great. All of the books are an enjoyable read (Minus The Flood).

I'm not saying it's the greatest story of all time, but it's nowhere near as simple as "SHOOT TEH ALIENZ!".

look at yourselves
can't a person you loves halo and a person that loves Zelda, or Uncharted, or MGS, or Metroid, or Mario, or Ratchet and clank, or Half-life/Tf2, Or modern Warfare, or Bad company, or Final fantasy, live in peace together, knowing each game has it's redeeming qualities, and some might not see them as strong as other? Can't we just all agree that the MAIN source of our anger is... Kotick?

@4117,

It's all about opinion my friend.

I'll agree, Halo has an incredibly crafted universe.

Though your points on Zelda, MGS, KZ2, and GOW are poorly presented. They all contain complex and interesting universes.

So in the end, don't be an obnoxious fan-boy, be a polite enthusiast!
Thanks.

"great story?" yea, i guess it's not bad. it's okay.

it's practically based off of starcraft though.

starcraft's story: humans fight against protoss and zerg. uh oh, zergs are getting too powerful. humans side with protoss to fight the zerg.

halo's story: humans fight against covenant and the flood. uh oh, the flood are getting too powerful. humans side with the covenant to fight the flood.

even artistically, the humans were gritty, smoking, explosion-loving gunners, just like the terrans, while the energy blade wielding zealots were converted to the elites of the covenant.

if you guys are looking for games with "good" stories, stories that you can brag about and everyone will agree with you, it'll be tough. but blizzard's stories have been pioneers.

p.s. bioshock zomg

O god please don't bring the innovation argument up again. It's been done to death and most have accepted that there's no such thing as original material anymore. Just go to TvTropes and look at how many times concepts are repeated in media.

Also, I've never actually played too many Zelda games, but I always thought most were in their own little universes, not considering the Wind Waker series.

Has anyone actually bought the Halo:Evolutions book and read the story? It's quite good, and so are many of the other short stores in the book.

4117 though I agreed with you about the Halo franchise having a good story, you've gone too far in your trolling of other franchises. In fact, your own arguments are flawed since you only are considering a single games' story in your view on Arkham Asylum, rather than the franchise itself.

Halo does have a great story, but IMO Halo 2 and 3 were more focused on multiplayer than campaign. Hopefully Reach is a epic as CE.

I don't remember Halo's plot being as simple as you have put it. Also, Games Workshop would like a word with you.

@Harvard you should remember that Starcraft and Warcraft are almost completely exact rip offs of Warhammer. Zerg=Tyranids, but with snake legs. Terrans= Space Marines, but not religious zealots. Even without that, your comparison is an extreme oversimplification and the two stories are almost nothing alike aside from such a superficial level. Your complaints about artistic similarities fall flat as well, what human character was a gritty, explosion loving gunner? The player? There were no huge dudes who chewed cigars and hefted giant machine guns. Sergeant Johnson smoked cigars, sure, but he was basically a direct homage to James Cameron's Aliens' Sergeant Apone! You might as well say Halo ripped off star wars as well if you're only claim is based on the elites having laser swords. Aside from that, they're NOTHING like the protoss, nothing.

@4117 don't be a dick, Uncharted 2 had one of the greatest stories of any games ever. Maybe on it's face it was just a treasure hunt, but it's presentation, voice acting, production values and so one, probably won't be topped until UC3

Oh god... HAHAHAHAHA!!! You have never heard of Warhammer 40K, have you? If you knew how much Blizzard ripped off that series, you would be wondering why Games Workshop has not sued for plagiarism yet.

Reach is the only Halo game I've even been remotely interested in since Halo 2. Played the first one and aside from the controls I didn't dig it at all. I hoped they'd fill the gaps for me by the 2nd one, but after playing it for a bit I said "Okay, enough of this."

Reach has a story that I find compelling, which is why I'm somewhat looking forward to it. I'll rent it and give it a try, but am not holding my breath. Halo hasn't don't jack for me as a game, so maybe this one will be the one to change that.

I'm really more of a single player guy, though I've certainly logged many hours into Live, especially with games that have come out over the last several years. From what I've read about Reach, the multiplayer sounds like a good time.
