Stayed tuned in next weeks issue of....EGM!

They are doing both print and digital editions, the print edition will be monthly (the cover shown is for the first print edition) while the digital edition, called EGM[i], will come out weekly.

Great news. It's really wonderful to see EGM back on it's feet and restart it with a throwback to it's latest cover is really a nice addition.
Let's hope they can land back on their feet.
Also, let's hope for a better content for the second edition.... Fighting games and retro are the highlights?... For real?....
Hmm....

Used to be obsessed with EGM but have virtually no interest in magazines these days. I don't really have the patience to read anymore.

I want lots of pictures, bullet points, and blurbs. Take that journalism! Hey look a squirrel!

I'm the same way. Websites have conditioned us to read short width columns of text no longer than a few paragraphs. We also expect to interact with our news with some sort of blog or comment section. EGM had better have some killer exclusives and original content, both tough to score in the age where leaks become instant information.

This is good. It seems as if they realize that people can get all the 'breaking news' on the internet, and instead are deciding to focus on more 'big picture' stuff by examining future trends and looking back on the past. Should be interesting to see how successful they will be in this post-print society.

Agree. The only thing print has left to its name is prestige, which it needs to leverage to make its value over online look apparent, and that prestige can be used for projects like this, to talk to all of these diverse fighting devs and make something compelling and exclusive

Nice to see they brought back "Electronic Gaming Monthly" on the cover instead of that hideous "EGM" thing they had going when it died....

No offense to Joystiq or any other gaming blog site, but I can't wait to get back to some solid journalism. Viva la EGM!

Bad news. You're going to keep getting Maxim. The Publisher already announced he is not honoring old subs you need to re-subscribe at $25 a year in order to get the new mag. As for me, I'm too cheap to pay for monthly video game news, I'll stick to Joystiq and other sites for my daily/hourly fix.

Back when I was a kid and I loved video game mags because there was no console internet structure or internet in most houses like mine, cough working middle class, we got our gaming news from them and I remember Street Fighter II being the cash cow for magazines.

They seemed to take any excuse to have them on the cover as I imagined they sold like hot cakes to fans like myself back them. I was consumed by SFII like no one's business; as were my friends.

How many quarters were wasted on playing it before and even during the Super NES release of the game. What I wouldn't do to see how much money I spent on this game in some amount or other.

Anyhow good to see EGM is back, not that I'll read it, but good times and memories.
