I just want a Team Silent SILENT HILL 5 and then the series to be closed. I honestly wish the guys would get back together and end the series with a bang... Shattered Memories was nice, but I still love my Silent Hill/Silent Hill 2/Silent Hill 3/Silent Hill 4 the most. It'll never happen though :(

I don't want anymore "Homecoming" or "0rigins" or even "Shattered Memory" games... The longer they milk the series, the more I'll start to dislike the series. Sure, I'll still have my originals, but I'd love to see the series finally come to an end. There are so many series in video games and films that are milked dry, and it sucks. I want to see an ending to one of my favorite series of all time.

Silent Hill is underground enough that I can't think of it as milking. I mean, I see no Silent Hill sheets, tv shows, mugs or water bottles. More games does not necessarily mean milking, especially if they continue to be enjoyable, and I do find them to be enjoyable sans Homecoming.

Alright, maybe "milking" was the wrong term, but, even though I did enjoy Shattered Memories to a point (I will admit that the therapist sessions were pretty great) it doesn't hold a place in my heart like the originals. I feel the same way with the Resident Evil games as well. As great as 4 & as good as 5 were, I prefer the first three and the two Gamecube games (I though Zero wasn't terrible). I grew up on the original Silent Hill and Resident Evil games, and even though I'll play just about any Silent Hill or Resident Evil games, I just still have a great place in my heart for the originals. Those two series really helped bring "Survival Horror" onto a lot of people's consoles, and now it's less survival horror and more survival action... Well, Shattered Memories was more in the horror vein, but, after this very awkward rant, I will just say Team Silent needs to get back together and bust out one last Silent Hill game. I'm sure the Silent Hill series doesn't sell well enough as to where ending the series will kill Konami, but, if an end-all Silent Hill by Team Silent is announced, I will be ecstatic.

Silent Hill 2 remake, cool.
Silent Hill 2 like Shattered Memories, hell no.
New Silent Hill, preferred... unless it sucks like the last 3 Silent Hill titles.

Silent Hill 2 was my favorite but I think it is too soon for a remake... I rather have a new silent hill game! but none the less I will still be happy to see a remake..... maybe they can make a sequel to the room and make silent hill THE CLOSET.

I really, really hope that it will be developed by Climax, and will follow up on the concepts introduced in Shattered Memories. That game was genius. Hell, I'll even be a little disappointed if it's for the HD consoles, considering what motion controls did for the last game.

I don't think the motion controls did much, but the Wii remote speaker was really cool. That was a neat way to kind of immerse you in the game.

Immersion was the entire point. Sure they were a little finnicky and probably could've used an option to adjust sensitivity, but the tradeoff for the degree of immersion they provided for was well worth it. Several sequences in particular (if you've played it you'll probably know what I'm referring to) wouldn't have been nearly as powerful and intense without the motion controls. I can't see Silent Hill going back to traditional controls and being as good, especially considering what the controls for every previous game in the series were like.

Also, to reiterate, I REALLY hope that Climax is working on this, because they demonstrated with Shattered Memories that they have a vision and they really understand how to make a compelling psychological horror experience. I think handing the property off to yet another developer now would be stupid since they've finally found one who actually knows what to do with it.

I'm glad they tried new mechanics/gameplay in Shent Hill: Shattered Memories, but wish it had been an original game and not a remake. While I'm one of the few people who didn't like SH2 as much as the original, I still wouldn't want that remade either. Go tell a new story!

Silent Hill 2 was my favorite in the series, as well as being one of my top five favorite games. James' story is fantastic and disturbing, and I'll gladly play through it over and over again.

I'm right there with you. Heavy Rain recently squeezed its way in my top 5, but Silent Hill 2 is still in there. I've replayed it four times, and I am constantly comparing horror games to it to see if they stack up.

If this is indeed a remake of silent hill 2 for Xbox 360/PS3... I'll be hyped as hell. If its just some "revisiting" like that crappy shit for wii, i'll be disappoint.

I can't imagine that this would be like Shattered Memories. That was sort of a one trick pony. They can't continue the "run and hide" gameplay where monster cannot attack in the real world. That worked once, but won't work again. I trust that they're aware of this and will adjust accordingly.

I don't care what they do with the mechanics, I just want to be able to freely explore the town again and discover the game's creepy setpieces by myself, instead of having them neatly presented one after the other.

That used to be the a very powerful aid towards the game's immersion. YOU were the one that came across these horrible and/or weird things in an abandoned town somewhere, it didn't feel like simply the next scare in a fake, linear horror house ride. It felt much more real.

And then 2003-2004 happened, and every single freaking game developer suddenly thought that they didn't have to create real "places" for games anymore, they could just push the player along a narrow rail past all their cutscenes and it wouldn't matter because the graphics were shinier. Well, no amount of HD and complex shaders have done anything to prevent SH games past 2 from becoming less and less immersive.

It's not great, no, but it's the game made by Team Silent, wasn't even going to be a Silent Hill game, but then pretty much got the "Silent Hill" name slapped on. Regardless, I do like it, but it's not in the same league as Silent Hill and Silent Hill 2, and even Silent Hill 3 (which, also, wasn't as good, but was creepy as hell).

Any word of the developer?

Because I for one was very disappointed with Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and it'd be WONDERFUL if the old team got back together. I beat the entire game in 3-4 hours, and the chase scenes were the only real "combat" and they were essentially the same thing every time and extremely repetitive. The first chase scene was thrilling, to be sure, but after that I was just like "God, this is going to be annoying, let's just get this over with." Not to mention it had maybe 2 or 3 puzzles total, if that. It just didn't live up to the Silent Hill name.

Yes, yes I do. If I wanted a game without gameplay I'd be playing Final Fantasy XIII (oh, snap!). In all Silent Hill games except The Room and Shattered Memories (both of which I did not like) you could explore Silent Hill and come to the speeky scenarios by yourself and you ran all across the town solving puzzles. I know games have to change and evolve but I feel like these games only went a step backwards from their "open world" RPG-style gameplay.

Also, to answer my own question, it's being developed by Vatra Games, who has never worked on a Silent Hill game before, and was formerly known as 2k Czech, who was formerly known as Illusion Softworks, and they've done mainly FPS games.
