I'm going to get it. However part of me misses the look and feel of the genesis version that I spent so many hours on way back when.
None the less I'll have fun with this no doubt.

I'm so happy with the direction XBLA/PSN is going. They just keep roling out these high quality games and I love it.

When I first bought a 360 about 2 years ago, I told people it was mainly for XBLA.
They all laughed at me.
Who's laughing now?
SSF2HDR
MvC 2 Returns
Sonic 4
Rocket Knight
Shadow Complex
Afterburner Climax
It just keeps getting better!

I'm laughing at the fact that you would buy Sonic 4. Good luck with all that.

Yes clearly that's a laughable subject months before release.

I am thoroughly enjoying the old school remakes and reissues on XBLA, although I think it would be really cool if Xbox and/or developers would ask for more consumer input on what games to do next. This looks really fun though and I can't wait to try it

the visual style on this is pretty interesting, it almost looks like a live action diorama with sparkster and the enemies rendered in.
but mostly, it looks like they've made the gameplay faithful to the first game. sparkster looks to handle exactly the same as the original rocket knight adventures. the music doesn't look to be up to par of the original, but as good as that music was, i'm not sure that's even possible.

Looks pretty awesome, I'll be buying it.
Now for HD remakes of ToeJam & Earl 1 and 2, Sonic 1 through CD, and Super Mario World 3.
How I would play a remake of SMW3 without a Wii I have no idea, but I'd find a way.

I got a chance to play the full game of this (oh the joys of working on a dev kit) and I have to say if you were a fan of the original, you will likely ease right into this one. A lot of the moves are either the same or similar from the original and very easy to pick up. It's a lot of fun to bounce off walls and throttle around, just like the old one. There is something that feels a little more floaty and less fast that the original game... for some reason a dash in that one always felt quicker... but overall the 2.5D approach actually serves it well.
The MUSIC is the only part I'm ehhh about. The first level is a remake of the original's first level music, which I loved. ... but the rest is sounding like original pieces, which all sound like generic game music. :( I would've been very happy if they remixed/remade other levels' music for the other levels.
