Despite earlier claims that Haze developer Free Radical (now Crytek UK) were working on an "original FPS" for its new overlord Crytek Studios, it appears that the UK-based studio is actually hard at work on Crysis 2's multiplayer component. In an interview with VG247, CEO Cevat Yerli revealed "several online functionalities" for the game, as well as the team behind said functionalities. "That is all they [Crytek UK] are doing, with a full team on it, and they are blasting forward at full speed with more focus and dedication than I've ever had before at Crytek." Jeez you two, get a room!
Yerli unfortunately couldn't expand on the various types of multiplayer we'll find in Crysis 2 when it arrives later this year, though he did note that the team at Crytek UK will be "making the gameplay unique to both the console and PC versions." Presumably he means that in a sense greater than "The PC version has way, way prettier graphics."

HAZE had the best marketing behind it though, Mr. Rob Yescombe!
Look up some of his videos on YouTube.

A magazine of mine said they were responsible for the console ports, don't take their word for it though, gaming magazines tend to just make shit up.

So that only applies to the multiplayer component, not singleplayer? I'm guessing he means dedicated servers at least for the PC. Can't wait to see what the Sandbox level editor can do! Please don't make it a dumbed down game Cytek, please!

i wouldn't be too worried about it being dumbed down. the CryEngine 3 allows Crytek to make the PC, 360, and PS3 versions of the (single player) game all at the same time. So as far as SP goes, we'll all get the same game, just with different graphic levels.
And the game is being made for the PC, and then "ported" to the consoles using the editor so it won't be dumbed down, it'll most likely be just as hard as the first one with just as many enemies or more as crytek has said in interviews.
As far as the MP goes, the only thing i think would be different would be dedicated servers and a full multiplayer map creation using the sandbox editor for the PC. PS3/360 should have the full multiplayer, but with matchmaking and most likely no user made maps

They're awesome at multiplayer, so that's a good thing. Hopefully we'll get to see some satire in their next project.

So... does this mean we'll be seeing game modes like Flame Tag, Monkey Assistant, Vampire, Gladiator, and Capture the Bag?

Nice to see them doing something they do well. From what I heard the Haze multiplayer and co-op weren't bad (just not as great as it could have been with all the support they had), so at least it's something to look forward to for those that will play it.

You know what other game did that? Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
Classic multiplayer by Splash Damage with a so-so singleplayer by Raven.

Don’t call them ‘Haze developer’, they should be remembered by TimeSplitters!

They did the same thing with Warhead and Wars. They put two studios working seperately. I guess this means we'll be seeing Crysis Wars 2 as the multiplayer component

Haze actually wasn't that bad. The graphics weren't great and the vehicles were poorly done but the story was good and some of the levels were designed really well and were a lot of fun. There are too many people that haven't played it that talk shit bc of what some reviews said.
The game is like $10... Just play it through and beat it. Then talk

I didn't mind the story... drugs to improve a strong army that's taking over a country... Rebel soldier disagrees & joins the rebels & eventually realizes his new boss is also fighting for the wrong reasons.
The voice acting wasn't great but the nectar marines were supposed to be meat heads and act like dicks. So yes, that was funny. Too many reviews made it seem like a bad thing & stereotypical when the way they were was used as a storytelling tool and to define characters & their actions
