On Late Night:

Fallon: So Cliff, I heard you have two announcements to share with us!

Cliffy: Well, you see...we, uh...as it turns out...eh, Gears Of War 4 in May 2013!

There is a perfectly reasonable explanation as to how this fella ended up with my pants. It's not what you think, I swear.

"Bulletstorm stars Grayson Hunt, one of two mercenaries exiled to a distant planet when they're labeled as traitors. The pair end up "surrounded by hordes of mutants and flesh eating gangs in an abandoned paradise,""

Distant planet? Check.
Main character is a traitor? Check.
Hordes of mutants? Check.

Sounds like another game I know of. Ah man, what is it? War Gears or somethin like that...

They're both "labeled" as traitors. I don't think Marcus Fenix regrets trying to save his father instead of obeying an order.

The story should have revolved around two space accountants, who have to T-Chart their way out of hordes of uneconomical mutant business men.

Yeah but it's not going to have some sissy Cover System. It's by People Can Fly. So expect something like Serious Sam or Painkiller.

Real men allow themselves to get shot rather than hide from the bullets like a pansy.

Visually uninspiring to be certain, but that play style definitely sounds promising. Given the entertainment that can be had from watching killcam videos from Modern Warfare 2 and such, designing an entire game around that could be quite thrilling indeed.

It looks a lot like Gears. I'll reserve judgment until a trailer can show us some gameplay.

A little help folks - I thought Microsoft owned Epic now ... wouldn't that make an EA-published game unpossible*? I may just have my wires crossed. Thanks.

*Yes, I know unpossible isn't a real word.

Where did you get that idea from? Microsoft barely owns any studios, they own franchises. Gears of war, halo, mass effect... All owned by microsoft. Epic, bungie, bioware? Not owned by microsoft.

Army of Two meets Borderlands meets Gears of War meets Call of Duty... using the different letters (or concepts) from each of these titles you can form the anagram Bulletstorm...

Why is any game with 2 people or coop like Army of Two? They didnt say you were going to be able to go back to back and fist pound

It really bothers me when a new game is announced and the game mechanics are revealed before the setting and the story are properly explored. Its sort of insulting in a way.
I mean, I know video games isn't the most sophisticated form of entertainment out there but can we at least pretend that we're not all 12-year-old boys and some of us care for more than just shooting bad dudes in the face.
Maybe, that's the sort of people this game is targeted at. It which case, it perfectly fine.

Uh, what? Story and setting are more important than the game mechanics? I'm no twelve year old, but I'm going to have to disagree with you. Besides, there's one mechanic in this article, and pretty much the whole story... so I'm not sure what you're talking about here.

I'm not saying that mechanics are not important, but without taking thing things to extremes I can say with confidence that story is definitely more important when it comes to making a game, it's what separates truly great games from good ones. Take Red Faction as an example: fun mechanics but utterly forgettable story and the result is a mediocre game.
All we know about this game so far story wise is that it will take place on some alien planet full of bad dudes you can kill . . mmm, exiting.
Although, the I'm using this game as just an example of what developers very often do.

There are plenty of good games that barely have stories. Left 4 Dead, Mario, Pokemon, Shadow of the Colossus, Geometry Wars, Plants Vs. Zombies, Torchlight, Super Smash Bros., Rock Band, Timesplitters, Portal, etc. A good story is a nice addition, but shouldn't really be more important than the actual game. Unless you're making some kind of interactive drama, I guess.

All it needs to add to the mix is make sure Nolan North is in the game, other than that the concept cover art looks great, now does "People can fly" mean that people will be flying or what.
