Final Fight: Double Impact almost included Black Tiger or Forgotten Worlds

Final Fight: Double Impact hits download services this week, with the side-scrolling fantasy action game Magic Sword as the delicious second course in the Final Fight meal. Lest you be satisfied with those two games, Capcom design director Kraig Kujawa revealed two more games that were considered for the pack: the 1987 action game Black Tiger, and the horizontal shmup Forgotten Worlds.

In the tweet, Kujawa said these two were the "other games ... considered for Final Fight: Double Impact second billing," suggesting that the plan was for two total games all along. That means that we don't have to cry as we imagine the four-game pack Double Impact that almost was, and instead we can concentrate on our delight with Magic Sword.

Maybe it's nostalgia talking here, but I always liked Black Tiger a lot more than Magic Sword.

Black Tiger would have made a lot more sense, Magic Sword has had home versions, to my knowledge Black Tiger has not (besides MAME).

No Black Tiger!? I spent months playing that game and got so close to winning a twin galaxies bounty. How depressing.

What year was that? I don't remember there being a Twin Galaxies bounty for Black Tiger.

My dream 'Double Impact II' would be Black Tiger/Knights of the Round.

I'd take a roulette choice of King of Dragons -or- Knights of the Round -or- Warriors of Fate -or- Powered Gear with some hot Black Tiger action on the side.

I'm buying Double Impact just for Magic Sword, honestly don't even care that Final Fight is included - I've played it to death (XBLA already has Streets of Rage 2 anyways - much better, IMO).

Do I have to have Microsoft's game room for this or can I just download it like any standard XBLA game?

It's an XBLA game (and PSN game), no game room required and it's all the better for it - that faux Arcade Cabinet setting is gorgeous on an HD screen.

please let it be Forgotten Worlds.

Forgotten Worlds was one of the best co-op games. Please please release this on PSN. I don't care if you redo all the sprites or make it 3d or whatever, just give it to me. I need to collect Zenny!

I need to check out Forgotten Worlds. I have a newly blossoming, and very serious shmup problem.

I used to play it all the time as a kid. It was really fun. My only problem was getting a second person to play with me, since I remember it being easier with two people.

I hope they include it in some future pack with the ability to play over XBL. Can't wait to relive those childhood memories with friends.

I'd like to nominate Strider for HD remake glory if we're taking other noms.

I'm guessing just due to the size of the game that would take a lot longer that the Street Fighter remake would. I don't want to wait that long but I certainly would buy it when it eventually came out. That game looked so good for it's day I don't even need a remake, just port it and make it cheap. And don't make it 3D! It worked well for Bionic Commando but it absolutely ruined Turtles in Time.

Forgotten Worlds was great in the arcades but isn't going to be gimped by the controller?

That Forgotten Worlds picture reminded me how insane the boss/character/enemy/level design was in that game. Just imagine that you didn't play games and walked in to someone shooting a prostrate dragon with knives coming from it's stomach.

What a bizarre hobby I have....

That 4-pack would've been insanely awesome...If it still shows up as another 2-pack, that's OK too though.

I'd like all of those in a beat-em-up pack along with The Punisher.

I'll probably end up buying it. I love the Streets of Rage games and Final Fight sounds similar.
Before all this news I had never heard of Final Fight or Magic Sword, I only had Nintendo games for the NES and then I got a Genesis.

I'd love for Capcom to keep releasing these Double Impact packs with the awesome arcade room menu select and the Faux Arcade screen as an option! Love it! So excited for the possibilities! Cadillacs and Dinosaurs? :)
