Doesn't this sort of validate Activisions claims in the counter-suit?

Not really. EA Partners is just a publishing arm for independent devs. Sort of EA's third party. Valve uses it.

Unless Activision new this was coming and added to there suit to strengthen their case. Does it not seem a little weird that they counter sued Friday and this announcement was made Monday?

Activision is evil. And in real-life the bad guys can actually win. I bet they did spy on the IW guys and the breach of contract thing is legit. They will get away with their back-stabbing and win the suit. It's a short term win though. Look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activision. Their upcoming games aren't really heavy hitters, everyone is sick of Guitar Hero and CoD is likely to be demoted of its AAA-status. Maybe in 2 years or so Activision won't be the biggest anymore.

Not exactly. EA can say they approach them after the fact they got fired, Activision has no evidence in the fact but of their own word of mouth.

Activision is make wild claims about "stealing Infinity Ward'.

So these guys get fired two months ago. They're are behind one of the biggest franchises of this generation in terms of money making, player reception, and critic reception.Do you not think that not only EA, but every western publisher and developers would have been on these guys like **** on velcro?

It's like if some sports team had let their star player become an unrestricted free agent. Did the player conspire to become a member of another team? No. They were approached and given a new offer. And they took the offer that was best for them.

How Dare They.

Two months is plenty of time for two unemployed people to talk to EA about setting up a new company. In fact, I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier.

It depends on the circumstances, same as the Band Hero likeness issue with No doubt and what have you. Neither side is guilty until proven so. At least not from where I am standing.

What did you call that post in the Move article? Because that didn't add ANYTHING to the discussion.

Dear Joystiq community,

I apologize again for the confusion but please note that Dr. 32X is NOT an official Planeteer. According to a recent legal ruling (see Corky v. State of Missouri), the Planeteer Foundation is required to have at least one adult with developmental disabilities as part of our staff. We gave the guy a job wiping all the door handles with sanitizing wipes but the little bastard got away and somehow got access to a computer.

I ask all Planeteers and/or Planeteer hopefuls to help locate Dr. 32X and bring him to the front desk. Please let him know that his mother is here to take him home. And if you find his helmet, please bring it to the front desk as well.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Your pal,
CP

@Reuben not really, they still do all the same low down dirty crap, they're just not able to compete with Activision's evilness. It's like Kotick is Apocalypse and Ricitello is Magneto. I mean, you do remember EA is the one throwing around the idea of charging for 'special' demos, right?

also Respawn Entertainment? Wow, that may be the worst studio name in a long time.

And I kind of agree that Respawn Entertainment is a crappy name.

You people need to stop putting human faces on corporations. They're entities that exist solely to make a profit and are required to do anything and everything to meet that end.

Anybody who claims that EA is not the tyrant it used to should go and talk to the guys over at Sledgehammer Games. (DeadSpace's original devs)

*gets on soapbox*

EvoHelix, corperations are not some divine entity on some other plane of existance. A corperation is comprised of humanbeings making decisions that effect the lives of all citizens that they make money from. Calling something a corperation does not excuse it from abusing people. A corperation is a group of people (investors, executives, etc) and these people can do harm. For instance child labor, polute water supplies, and have enough political influence to stop the average person from preventing their detrimental behavior.

I agree. It sounds to me like the Pheonix rising from the ashes. Can't wait to see what they can do with a "real" publisher backing them.

Wonder how this will fit in with EA's other properties when it comes time to provide marketing support? Id's reason for wanting to finally join Zenimax was supposedly partly due to the fact that they didn't think EA or Activision focused enough marketing efforts to their games when they had in house competitors.

Obviously they've got a name and reputation, but then so did id.

And you'd release a barely upgraded console every year, but stop supporting it after that year. And it'd be $500.

@Chris

I was referring to their insistence in creating proprietary hardware. The UMD, the Mini-Disc Player, 400 different Memory cards, Beta-Max...the list goes on.

Now of course they seem to be conforming with the rest of the technological world.

Hey remember the Mini-Disc player by they way? I actually invested heavily in a mini-disc system for my car back in the day. It's like I have a 8-track player now lol

I totally did my friend. I drove around like a clown shoe for about a year before letting the dream die.

I've been burned by Sony so many times in the past that way. I had a Clie that used these gumstick sized memory cards. Those of course went out of production very quickly. When the PS3 came out I was actually hesitant to jump on board because I thought Blu-Ray would never catch on.

Of course the one time I don't jump on a new tech; it actually manages to be successful! Moral of the story: Don't be an early adopter!

as for Blu-ray I figured it would take off opposed to HD-DVD simply because only Toshiba was making it which is why Betamax failed....

but I waited a years and a price drop to get a PS3 tho....lol
