Gears of War 3 dated April 5, 2011

The Gears of War "trilogy" will conclude on April 5, 2011 in North America, followed by Japan and Europe on April 7 and 8, respectively. The game, announced last Friday on the Xbox Dashboard, finally had its big (delayed) coming-out trailer last night on late-night national television.

For those interested in Gears apparel for their Avatars, new items for the little scamps will be available beginning April 20, 2010. Items, like the new Gears 3 COG armor, can be picked up in the Avatar Marketplace, along with other Gears gear. Find pics of the COG armor in the gallery below.

Update: The Gears 3 campaign will feature four-player co-op, according to Cliff Bleszinski.

Agreed in no way I'm saying it's a bad thing. I think Epics created great formula for game trailers. 2K games has a pretty good one for Bioshock too...

On topic: To me Marcus looks a lot younger and i personally think the bearded fellow IS his father and that part is taking place during the pendulum wars. But thats my thoughts based on the trailer.

Cliffy stated earlier on Twitter that the bearded guy is in fact Dom. He looks very very old because hes been running through all the ash. Also he said the girl is Anya like I thought it was. Good stuff.

@Fenix Whoa, Anya? I'm predicting it right now that since she'll be in the field with Marcus, the two are going to fall in love. 10 bucks! any takers?

I was expecting a cool trailer with plenty of pew-pew and blat-blats, but that blew me away. The music was an excellent choice. Though I doubt they would go though with it, I think it would be very cool if "The End" was the actual end for Delta Squad, AKA they all die and the Locust essentially win and take over.

I still need to run Gears 2 with 2 people(now that I am Gold)....haven't been able to find anyone willing to do it.....

When they do that do you lose your Gold membership or do they transfer it over?

It's just a name ban. My friend had to change his name, too. It was BallsDeep, ha. Apparently some may find that offensive?

oh ok.....I've had the same name for years....wasn't sure how it worked...lol

I hated the name bans at first but, since you don't lose your gold membership status and you get to change the name for free. I figure it's like a free name change every 1 or 2 years. Plus all the stats stay attached to your gamertag and the length of your membership still holds to your first gamertag.

thats nothing. Its only a matter of time before they start doing pre-orders for the Avatars clothing.

Good stuff...I was expecting a GDC announcement for Gears 3 but I take it they wanted to go a different route.

Next year is shaping up nicely even before E3

Why is "trilogy" in quotes? There are three games. Isn't this the definition of a trilogy?
