Regardless of how unfaithful it might end up being to its ludological source material, or how cheesy its dialogue is, or how poorly its actors perform, it's difficult for us not to get substantially excited by the two behind-the-scenes previews of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time we've posted above and after the jump. It looks to be, on all accounts, a Bruckheimer joint -- big, awesome and ... uncerebral. Like a big, clumsy elephant, riding a race car into a tornado made of swords. That's a spectacle we'll gladly drop $10.50 to witness once the film hits theaters May 28.

$10.50? Yeep! We pay $7.50 matinee to see it on the "cine-capri" which is just shy of a typical mega-screen.
P.S. - FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAH!!!

i hope this to be good, but what i have seen from the movie the prince just doesn't have the charisma or the snarky banter between the two.
at least the hassassins have some of the coolest weapons the dagger whips and the whip sword. though snake guy is unimpressive
but it is good to see the amount of effort placed into this movie wasn't half assed like other game movies.

It actually looks like a good movie. I wish it was based on the original Prince of Persia. A side scrolling movie would be awesome to watch.

The Prince (and pretty much everybody else in the film) is supposed to be an Iraqi (or at least iraqi looking), not just the bad guys.

Watch this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aukC8GBEsU
England never occupied Persia. Persia was the name of the Iranian empire. Iranians regularly refer to themselves as Persian or Iranian,
Watch that video above if you want to know about the Persian empire, if you like classical history, it will probably make you wonder why only Romans and Greeks are talked about, when the Persians actually had the largest and most civilised empire of the lot and they also had the longest running empire (no slavery , first charter of human rights, all workers were paid salaries, probably the most advanced empire of its time, followed a completely monotheistic religion, I think Zoroastrians were the first to believe in only 1 God, The old testament has a lot of praise written about the Persians )
Working out the exact time line for prince of Persia the game is quite hard, it has Zoroastrian elements which goes back to before 500 BC and it also has a nod to hashishians or Assassins again another Persian / Iranian thing but this is now 500 + AD , Its all good Ive always loved the games from the original pop which I played as a little kid on a very old 8086 PC , I must have been around 6 years old..

Sands of Time is one of my all-time favorite games. Fingers are crossed for this movie, but I'm not going to expect much with Disney involved.

Sometimes you just can't win. Gamers will cry over the fact that Gyllenhaal doesn't "look Persian" and the movie isn't historically accurate. Yet, if they casted someone who looked Persian, they would complain that it wouldn't be authentic to the game's "westernized, tongue-in-cheek style".
They should've casted Dolph Lundgren and be done with it.

I'm kind of sad they aren't mentioning the game very much. Would be nice to throw around the "video games have amazing stories and depth" word from Jerry Bruckheimer.

It just looks terrible... I mean just really terrible.. far worse than anything Bruckheimer has made before. I mean it looks like it would even make the story of a Michael Bay movie look good.
It's not only an action movie, but a love story, and a comedy, with lots of special effects and slo-mo gyllenhaal. "you can find the dagger but you'll have to search thoroughly, and by that I mean you'll have to find my penis"
I want to like this movie but these trailers make it look like two hours of complete hell.
