We've seen many games unlock new content in PlayStation Home, like the Batcave from Batman: Arkham Asylum. However, what we haven't seen yet is the ability to unlock content in-game from Sony's online world. That changes this week, with the addition of the SOCOM OPFOR game space. A Home-exclusive minigame will challenge players to assemble an assault rifle in 12 seconds or less. The prize? A golden AK-47 that can be transferred into SOCOM Confrontation.
Likely, this is just the beginning for expanded Home integration. Associate Producer KC Coleman commented on the PlayStation Blog: "It's truly a win-win-win situation. It's a win for Home because we have opened up a huge door that will allow developers to continue to blur the line between PlayStation Home and PS3 games." See a trailer after the break.
That's so weird. I've already seen this gun in SOCOM and I've been wondering how people were getting it. But this isn't out yet. How did they get them??
home is bringing out some amazing stuff all the time it seems now. idk, i think its the idea of home(second life/sims) that puts me off. and i think alot of casual ps3 owners agree.. i mean its great for the ppl who do like home. but im not sure its the best way for sony to spend their ressources.
i rather they make home premium, and keep PSN free(after all, its the biggest advantage over xbox live)
Home already is premium, in the sense that it is heavily monetized. There may not be a subscription fee, but all those pieces of clothing, furniture, trinkets, etc. are a steady source of income. If you want to be "cool" in Home and not a sad runt like me, you have to spend the dough, so yes, it's premium.
Home actually is for "casuals". The only reason I say this is because when I do get on Home (about once a month) I spend half the time checking out everyones profiles. Over 90% of everyone on Home isn't over a level 3 or 4 on their trophies. Even if you're not a trophy wh***, you still get more than a level 3 just by playing the games. Even if Home was meant for "gamers", it is currently populated by "casuals".
I really hope for AC5, any PS3 mech game, they make it so that your current mech is viewable in Home. Either as a model or 1-1 scale you can view in an apartment you have to buy.
Cool. I guess Home wont be completely worthless for long. Seeing as how they're wasting so many resources on it in the first place, this is great news.
Now if only they can do something about the achievement trophies being completely worthless, seeing as though it's the only feature sony has made mandatory.
Give it up SONY. Most of us gamers want to...you know....play games! And those silly mini-games don't qualify. Stop trying to convince me to wander around in that immense commercial that you call 'Home' and leave it to the clingy social networking types.
