Activision Blizzard raised its March quarter sales outlook today, expecting approximately $1.1 billion in revenues. CEO Bobby Kotick noted that the company is doing well due to continued demand for World of Warcraft (naturally) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. He also stated that the company benefitted from the "record breaking launch" of the Modern Warfare 2 "Stimulus" map pack, which he claimed was originally expected to debut in the June quarter.
Kotick remains cautiously optimistic about the next couple of quarters due to the economy and because "the majority" of Activision Blizzard titles aren't expected to launch until autumn. The company plans to announce the financial details of its better-than-expected March quarter on May 6.

I'd be curious to see how the PS3 numbers look compared to these. Everyone I know with a PS3 keeps up on gaming news and most aren't even playing MW2 anymore cause of all the stuff Activision pulled. It seems to me that your average kid with an xbox probably doesn't read up on gaming news or even care they just want to kill things with thier friends..... It really is a shame that the majority of the new generation of gamers doesn't really seem to care. Now if your a gamer and your in school still and you do care and your reading this than I'm glad that you care but the vast majority doesn't seem to.

You have an asshole of a guy like Bobby Kotick making a shit-ton of money. There's gotta be a "sell your soul to Satan"-like movie script in there somewhere. Just don't tell him, cause he'll probably try to cash in on that too.
By the way, doesn't this guy here look like Bobby?

They sold 2.5M copies of the map pack. There are apparently a lot of people claiming they've turned their back on Activision who didn't actually do so.
$15 for 3 new maps. And people then wonder why Activision seems to think they can get away with milking their franchises.

Yeah but the problem was with the MW2 release was that the boycotters were PC gamers, and since the DLC is not on PC yet, well, they sadly haven't got anything to boycott about.
Truth be told though, the only people that really boycott are those who are perhaps more savvy consumers and read reviews and opinions and use those to form their beliefs. The MW fanbase is lacking those, due to the majority of it being male teenagers who use their parents money. It's a bit of a generalisation, but that group will always buy anything MW related.
Hmm, they should release MW energy drinks if they really wanted to cash in.

They'd make a fortune! Wasn't the Monster M80 drink or something supporting MW1 for a while?

"Kotick remains cautiously optimistic..." because Activision is becoming a greedy behemoth and pissing off it's customers.
Activision has lost my business for the rest of the year.
New COD? F.uck it, I'll support the new Medal of Honor.
New Guitar Hero titles? F.uck it, I'll support Rock Band.

Yet everyone who made the DLC possible is leaving. I can't wait to see next quarters sales. Better yet, I can't wait to be able to say... SUCK IT KOTICK

I for one hate seeing activision and blizzard in the same sentence. Its like combining "puppies" with "people who eat puppies and make a profit out of it."
