I thought this was a joke mocking the horse armor at a price that no one would actually buy. Don't WoW players feel that this is insulting to their intelligence? That they would buy a single mount for almost half the price of a full game? Apparently not if these numbers are true... game developers (especially Blizzard) have almost no reason to lower their DLC prices when there are gamers like these around.

A lot of people are freaking out over this and saying that it's a waste of money, but if you read more than the article title you can see where it has perceived value. It scales with your riding level, you never have to purchase a mount with in game money again if you don't want to, and you get it on any character you have or make. There's value there, you just have to care enough about it/be lazy enough.

"a single mount for almost half the price of a full game?"

Or 2 - 5 times the price of a full AAA game if you look at some of the deals on Steam.

Don't give me deluded nonsense about value. What this is, is like selling drugs to drug addicts. They can charge almost anything for what is pretty much -nothing-.

@stutter
It's not about whether or not its optional,its the fact that they think $25 is worth something like that. These are the same people who use "LOL HORSE ARMOR" in most debates against DLC and Oblivion in general (at least in my experience with rabbid wow fans). And here we are with and armored horse with no real advantage over other mounts in the game, selling for $25... With over 70,00 people buying it... And people wonder why Activision keeps jacking up DLC prices...

It is wild how wow players eat this stuff up. The game is out of control. I had a friend vanish after starting to play it and he was so into it that none of us talked to him for months...a year later or so he said he had to quit it and was trying to do it "cold turkey". Everyone reacted like he was an admitted drug addict going to rehab....he just may be.

Just kidding about the WOW part.

@Duke,

thats the main reason I won't try an MMO. I already love playing console games and I know that if I go into MMO...its all over for me. Torchlight isnt an MMO, but the demo alone made lose track of time and i ended up going to bed at 2:30 instead of 11, and waking up at 6....effin tired i was lol

I really don't understand why anytime Blizzard does something people don't like, it's the evil Activision's fault! If you don't like what they're doing, blame Blizzard, not Activision. Activision stays out of Blizzard's affairs - that was always the stipulation of their merger.

This is all Blizzard. Activision provides very little to no input on pretty much everything Blizzard does. I go to USC and one of the producers from WoW/Diablo III gave a guest lecture to us recently and he said that the only difference since being acquired by Activision is that every once in a while they have to fill out some employee survey or something... otherwise they'd forget they weren't just their own company. Activision does the smart thing and lets the successful company that is Blizzard run itself.

As a dedicated WoW player who is also really bad at raiding, I'm just glad it's just a cosmetic thing for now. I'm sure Blizzard is smart enough to realize what a terrible idea selling actual stat gear would be, but man if it ever comes to that, I guess ill just have to wait for TOR

Seriously, think of the profits. How many resources do you think they really put into making yet another mount? Probably not many. Yet someone I work with actually logged into the store today to buy it and they were in a queue that was already over 125 thousand.... at $25 a pop? That's a ludicrous amount of money for such little additional work.

Pandaren/KT - $10 each - percent went to charity
Wind Rider/Gryphon companion - $10 each - got a plushy with them
Mount/Lil XT - 25/10 - straight to Blizzards grubby pockets
