Celebrating the release of the first episode of Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse, Valve has announced an interesting promoti onal tie-in with Team Fortress 2. Starting today, anyone who pre-ordered The Devil's Playhouse or purchases it within the first week on Steam will get a special batch of items for Team Fortress 2. The three items, pictured above, were crafted by Telltale and include Max's pistol, Sam's revolver and -- bizarrely -- Max's severed head. The hat is purely cosmetic, and we have no idea what the stats are for the pistols, but who cares? Just look at them. If you like Team Fortress 2 and you like Sam & Max, it's pretty much a no-brainer.

Could I gift the game yet keep the items o.0?
Don't care for Sam and Max so much, but my bro loves it. That would be a cool gift for... summer.

No, I think the people you gift the games to get the items.
...That said, gift me, plz! I am a poor college student! (Or we could try to figure out some way to do this on Goozex... when college isn't overloading me with papers.)

You're right it's a no brainer, it's only the top half of his empty head!

Actually you are 100% wrong.
They were already patched into the official files of the game. Everyone can see them.
Unless of course you think I was imagining people wearing rabbit skulls less than an hour ago?

Question: if I buy S&M (lol) after the week it releases, will I still acquire said items? I understand it's basically a fun inside joke to the Sam and Max people, but it kind of sucks for me who doesn't care that much about Sam and Max but would very much like those items.

The Sam and Max games are pretty funny. Even my fiance loves them. I never got to play season 2 because I was waiting for it's Wii release but I might just buy it, and one again, for PC. One was good on the Wii, I just eventually got tired of switching between games to play it, and my sensor bar was too high that the cursor kept messing up.

Just curious, why would you want the items if you don't like Sam and Max?

Unfortunately wearing Max's severed head in-game does not grant you his season 3 psychic powers.

Telltale is currently working on something that allows those of us who pre-ordered it directly from Telltale to also have access to these TF2 items.

Thank you for the info, Powerlord. I always buy Telltale games from their site and was wondering.

Whats great at the moment is the TF2 forums, sooooooo much rage about these items being bonuses to people that get the game (why can't we get them, its not fair they shoudl be drops etcetc). Theres even mention of some people buying the game JUST for the TF2 items :/

This game is making me think of buying the game. Yes because of the items at first but I'm not gonna waste money on something I won't play and by the trailer on steam it looks pretty funny. In other words, this advertising works on me.

I'm a bit upset that the weapons are for my two least used classes, but that IS an awesome hat - probably not "spend $35 on a game that was otherwise off my radar" awesome, though.
