PlayStation Mini 'Hysteria Project' is an FMV adventure

I'm always asking myself, "Justin, full-motion videos are so great, why aren't they used in every game?" It's a fine question. There's huge, pent-up demand for games that use video of actual actors throughout my office, and it seems that someone's finally catering to it. It's just been announced that iPhone FMV horror adventure Hysteria Project is coming to PlayStation Minis courtesy of Sanuk Games.

The news comes from the Euro PlayStation blog, so the question, of course, is whether or not this super-cool, super-scary release will be part of the North American update when it's unveiled later today. Here's hoping the high concentration of FMV fans in and around my office chair finally have their voices heard. [Update: Just heard back from Sanuk, Hysteria Project's coming to North America next week. The FMreVolution begins!]

I remember playing wing commander on the playstation all through the night. I miss fmv too. BRING 'EM BACK!

It was like Heavy Rain, except with bad acting, cheesy storyline and would tell you how crap your decisions were.

Wirehead for Sega CD was the greatest game of ALL TIME!

The main character in Wirehead was the same actor who, in Batman Returns, had his nose bitten off by the Penguin! He was also the actor from a series of Golden Grahams commercials.

I have NO CLUE what his name is, but he rules!

The last two FMV games I played were actually published by major companies: Psychic Detective (EA) and Fox Hunt (Capcom). Of course, that was in the '90s. I enjoyed those types of "games," though, mainly for the cheese factor.

I dug out my copy of Fox Hunt last night and had a blast, I actually do miss those games.

I'm gonna put my gamer cred on the line here and admit, I have no idea what a Playstation Mini is.

That being said - Ground Zero Texas is my favorite FMV game.

I had the same question, a quick wiki search leads me to believe they're basically digital-only games designed for the PSP but are usually compatible with the PS3.

It's the PSPGo isn't it? Like they're app store.

Fine purveyors of Night Trap, Ground Zero Texas, Corpse Killer. Run by Tom Zito.

They did Double Switch (starring the late Corey Haim), one of my favorite Sega CD games. Supreme Warrior and Corpse Killer were also great, in a horrible B-movie way.

I wander where tom zito is today.he was the speilburg of FMV now I'm nostalgic for next generation magazine.

Double switch was sooo lame lol I loved it back then lol gotta find it again..

Didn't they also do Space Ace & Dragon's Lair DVD ports? Or was that Digital Leisure?

Time to dig out my 3DO for memories. Off world Interceptor was the greatest game of that generation. Monster trucks with missiles and mystery science theater3000 like FMV cut scenes are amazing!!

I've noticed these "mini's" on the PSN for a while now. Anyone wanna let me know what they actually are? Are they PSP only or what? Sony has done a piss-poor job letting consumers know what they are, especially since PSP and PS3 titles are frequently grouped together in the various areas of the PSN store.

On the contrary, they've been shoving them down our throats.
Where have you been? Several Joystiq posts saying that minis can be played on PS3, the PSBlog is almost nothing but minis..

and the PSStore tries to make a huge deal out of them too.

Well, I really only notice them on the "deals" part of the PS store, but that's usually where I head to first when I log-on once a week. And since the deals store offers both PS3 and PSP products, that's where I was confused.

So I take it the "mini's" are playable on both platforms.

Any Mini's stand out as fun time wasters?

FMVs rule. they should port more unique iphone games to the PSN mini section

When the heck is episode 2 coming out for the iPhone? I NEED this story to continue.
