Siliconera dug up a European trademark filed by Konami for something called "Harmony of Despair," and they correctly point out that it certainly sounds like another Castlevania game. Since the classic Symphony of the Night, Castlevania games are often subtitled with music-themed "X of X" titles, including Lament of Innocence and Aria of Sorrow, and the upcoming Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
There's no indication in the trademark exactly what the game will be (it's just marked as "video game software" and related services), and while Dawn of Sorrow, the series' first DS title, gave an acronymic hint to the system, obviously Harmony of Despair doesn't. Wait -- "H.D."? It must be for the rumored iPhone HD releasing later this year! Mystery solved!

Ah naw man, that is their art style, and I like it. If they change it, at least keep it 2d. Those are the best in my opinion, I liked Order of Ecc a looooooot.

OoE took it back even more ol' school with the boss fights, which I actually loved. Memorizing patterns meant you weren't just relegated to leveling up/stocking up on potions to defeat them as you would in certain previous installments.

No iPhone HD nonsense, Catlevania wouldn't work without a game pad.

Oh and just because it wouldn't work without a d-pad doesn't mean they won't try it. Look at Street Fighter IV

Just because they CAN do something, doesn't mean they should.
Case in point, SF4 for iDevices.

What does Order of Ecclesia have to do with music?

I really don't care one way or another, as long as the gameplay formula remains the same I'm good.

GUH?! Dude Order of Ecclesia was a huge step in the right direction. I felt for the first time since SotN Castlevania was moving back to it's roots.
Anyway, I personally really love the Metroidvania games. I feel every Metroidvania does it's own thing to keep the formula fresh enough. I mean you always explore a different castle and new battle mechanics. Hell if anything the Metroid formula is getting old! You always get the same morph ball, grapple beam, and beam power ups.

Speak for yourself, we PSP owners have been screwed out of new Castlevania titles for the lifespan of our system. They couldn't bother to rework it for multi-platform? Really? I mean REALLY? They did it for GTA Chinatown (it's even out on the App store) This topic really gets me boiled. Japanese have this ridiculous idea to support only 1 platform that is the most popular, which makes me kind of glad that Microsoft is there and fights for platform parity but that's a different platform. The portable market is completely controlled by Japanese.

The characters don't have faces because the DS doesn't have an infinite amount of pixels. It's probably impossible to give them decent faces without making the characters' sprites gigantic. And that would cause the screen to show a much smaller area. Unless we get some sort of chibi character. And those are the worst things ever.
The sprites are fine the way they are.

Harmony = many as one
Despair = feeling of those who missed out on the GBA titles
Ergo, the game is a DS compilation of the 4 GBA games, just as Capcom are doing with the Megaman Z series.
I am not paying $480 for the 4 GBA games on eBay (new). But I will gladly pay $50 for a DS cart.
Thank you Konami

If you're right (though I'm not quite with you yet,) that would be great. I own all of the Castlevania GBA games, but I would gladly shell out to have them all in a single collection.

I'll totally admit that the Castlevania has not evolved very much, and usually that would seriously bother me. It just works. I don't know what it is. For some reason I find Castlevania's gameplay comforting, and I tend to go back to the games when life gets too stressful. Every other game series can change, but I need some Metroid in my Castlevania.

HD can also refer to XBLA/PSN titles. Just like Konami already did for Contra and an older Castlevania title. Either way, I'll just wait until e3. Castlevania has always had that basic fun formula so I might end it picking it up regardless.

I hope it's a new Metroidvania title; I could use my adventure-style Castlevania fix. Maybe it's for 3DS?

And how large are the sprites in SFA? Quite a bit larger, compared to the screen, than the character sprites in the DS Castlevanias, I'm willing to bet. You can't just create giant sprites "because they look good" and ignore that it will make the visibility close to zero.
And you're clearly in need of glasses if you think the current sprites are anywhere near 8-bit level. Even Soma from Dawn of Sorrow, the oldest DS Castlevania, is very detailed and well animated for being such a small sprite on DS.

Tell me how you would add a good face onto that without making the sprite significantly larger. You have, what, five pixels to work with?
