Maybe because it is not for you? I'm sure the parents seeing their kids having a fun time are truly happy with the game. David Jaffe even said he loves it because his kids and wife have a blast.

cause to me this makes the average gaming audience look enthusiastic towards corny games like this. While the average gamer wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole.

This is all my opinion of course, i know this is the casual market but i'm just concerned about people blurring the lines.

Actually, that is the average gaming audience by a large majority. The downmarket far outnumbers the upmarket.

I think the hardcore market is what makes us look bad.

$15 for a 5 map, map pack where 2 of them are old maps?
$15 for costumes that are already on the disc?

Only the hardcore buy those things and that really makes us look bad.

To me, the average gamers are people who've been gaming since BEFORE 2006..
Average in numbers yes, in grasp of video games, no.

Don't despair--this is a good thing.

Ubi uses franchises like this, Petz, and Imagine to fund games like Prince of Persia, Red Steel, and whatever else they want.

Sure, we'll all want to cry when "Imagine Dancing Petz" sells 2 million copies in its first week of release, but its games like these that allow companies like Ubi or Sega to keep their heads above water.

wishful thinking. By your logic; a russian terror cell can run fundraisers to save the rain forest but a cut of the proceeds go to gun runners.

Roger, what you said makes no sense. Don is probably right. These games are relatively cheap to make, so it does subsadise the 'hardcore' games we all want.

THey will use the money to make more crap. It's really that simple. Why keep making a game for the hardcore that sells 50k copies when you would make 2 shitty games that sell 1 million + each. Thats the way it works not mythical subsidy land.

Actually, he is right. Ubisoft has already said this before about their games. They make the more casual titles that sell tons to a wider audience, and these sales give them the funds to produce more games for the older gaming audience (ie: those that have been playing games for years).

Girls like it. A friend of mine set it up at a party, and fun was definitely had by everyone that wasn't a man. Having said that, it's just as much work (or more) than Dance Dance Revolution, so it's not for everyone. I prefer sitting on my ass while I play video games.

ChuckJ, unless he was kicking a puppy while typing that, DonsSword himself is peacefully exercising his right to free speech by saying he doesn't like tea baggers.

He gets free speech too. Free speech is for everybody, not just people who agree with you.

However, I do think that bringing up politics is unnecessary here.

And that's me practicing my free speech.

It's kind of like Rock Band. A silhouette dances on the screen, and you've got to dance along with it. Obviously the only thing that matters is the position of the wii remote relative to what the game is wanting, but people dance with their whole bodies anyway.

Oh no, people have a different taste in gaming than me. They should burn in hell. I'm sure when there's a Playstation Move version of this everyone can backtrack and say how great the game is because its not on the Wii.

The game is fun for everyone. EVERYONE.

If you build a game that mom, dad, sister and brother can play. That game will sell more than the game that was made just for brother/dad. That's why. Gaming is not just for 15-35 year old males anymore. Gaming is beyond that now. Third parties, and even first parties, know that. They're going after everyone else. And there's more money there than in the aforementioned market. Red Steel 2 is proof. Granted, Red Steel isn't HALO or God Of War, but those are the exception.

Now what do you think Ubisoft is going to concentrate on this coming Christmas? A Red Steel bomb or another Dance game? This is about business and making money. If I were a third party publisher, of course I would love to build a game like Modern Warfare 2, but some third parties don't have the money to produce a game like that, so you end up with crappy attempts, which fall flat.

Just Dance probably cost shit to make and they've moved a ton of units. From a business perspective, this is BRILLIANT. Their basically printing money at this point.

Regardless about how you feel, you need to stop thinking that gaming belongs to you and the types of games you like. That's OVER. Gaming is for everyone. You will get your HALO, and the kids can have Just Dance. In the meantime, stop whining about it.

I agree with you completely that gaming is moving out of its classical mold of being for males and instead being for everybody. I have to say, though, that we need to wait and see about Red Steel 2. Moving 50,000 units in just a couple of weeks is pretty good, I think, for a game that had totally kneecapped advertising. I've not seen the game anywhere but gamer magazines or websites. Another thing that I have to agree with others on, is that Wii games usually seem to have a much longer tail than non-Wii games, particularly the (and I hate to use the term) "hardcore" games. They may not sell a million copies right away, but over time they build up to that number or higher. Modern Warfare Reflex Edition is a good example. It started out okay, and if it hasn't already passed the million mark, its pretty damn close (same with the other CoD games sold on Wii...I think they are all million sellers at least). The core Wii games just take a while to sell. I think its because there are so many consoles out there that belong to families and not just core players. Average families don't go out and buy a couple of games a week or month. They play what they have, go out to the stores, and happen to spot games that they might like every now and again. This brings the sales slowly up to par. I'm waiting to see what the sales of Monster Hunter Tri are like (mine has been pre-ordered for a while now), both initial and tail end sales. The sadder thing about the way Wii sells games, is that you never really hear about it on gaming sites. Initial sales yes...but not really much about how games have sold in full numbers, say 6 or 7 or more months into the games life. I wish we did, which is why I have to rely on sites like VGChartz (I know....bad rep) to watch game sales over time.
