7-Eleven to begin selling used games for $20 and below

Beloved Slurpee vendor 7-Eleven plans to nab a share of the video game re-sale market by soon offering budget-priced pre-owned titles as part of a partnership with Game Trading Technologies, which announced the program today. The new initiative, excitedly dubbed "GREAT GAMES BELOW $20," is currently being introduced into more than 3,000 U.S. 7-Elevens (or roughly 50 percent of all franchises), with plans to eventually extend the service to most locations. "The program is available to all 7-Eleven U.S. franchisees, and we hope to have most U.S. stores on board by September," said GTT president Todd Hays.

The partnership will have GTT providing 7-Elevens with a "broad selection" of used games for "various" platforms at price points of $19.99 and below. If the selections are actually decent, we fear for how costly our surprisingly frequent late-night hot dog runs might soon become.

they'v ebeen doing this in california for months now joystiq. Wtf mates.

this is true. although i'd hardly call them "GREAT GAMES" for under $20. i recall seeing a bunch of copies of M&M Kart Racing and various PETZ games.

However, I noticed Batman: Arkham Asylum and X-Men Origins: Wolverine for half price. There's good games to be had if you look in the right place.

I was just going to bring this up. The prices aren't any better than Gamestop's prices, though.

i clearly need to visit 7-11 more often. even if only for Extreme Gamer Fuel flavor Slurpees.

Canada has had this for awhile too.

7-11 has been selling videogames in japan since the Famicom days.

My local 7-11 has been selling used games for a couple weeks now. From what I saw the prices aren't that hot.

I spotted them too right here in Philly. Chris should have been aware of this, at least.

So they're essentially becoming a pawnshop with food?

I feel like the only city without a 7-11. Last time Ive been in one was 2000 and a corner store was just a corner store. Much simpler times back then.

there do 20 and under games in there, i have witnessed it.

i did get both Tom Clancy's HAWXS and Armored Core for Answer, Each of them at 9.99

Its one of those cases of finding something quite decent through a sea of blah...

Not to be outdone, Gamestop will begin selling cigarettes and two day old hotdogs.

My 7-11 sold blu-rays for a couple of months. Got 2001: A space Odyssey for 15 bucks. Now there back to only DVD's = [

I walked into my local 7-11 at lunchtime to grab an Iron Man cup and a hot dog, and there were used copies of EndWar, Mirror's Edge, some '08 sports titles and a pile of Wii shovel-ware. Now I know the whole story - so much for trading Wii games in for corn dogs!

They are all going to get stolen...

They probably were already stolen to begin with....
