What you see above might just be the fourth generation iPhone. The pictured prototype was reportedly lost in a Redwood City, Calif. bar and found its way to Gizmodo for immediate deconstruction. Though the phone has been remotely deactivated, preventing its fortunate locator from running any Apps on it, there are a few external design changes that may have some implications as far as the device's gaming capabilities are concerned.
The foremost of these changes is a new, front-mounted camera, which will make DSi porting much easier -- in other words, "put your face in the game" gimmickry could become common in new iPhone games. Also, according to Gizmodo's preliminary findings, the new hardware's screen appears to have a higher resolution than the 3GS screen (at least, it's smaller in size). The back of the prototype does not reveal the amount of internal memory in the device, but previous reports have suggested the next iPhone will have up to 80GB of space (which would be a stupid silly amount of games). Additionally, there's a larger battery installed in the lost-n-found unit than the one in the 3GS.
Finally, the prototype sports a new shell with a flat back, which apparently feels "freaking amazing." That's always a good thing for handheld gaming, right?

Too bad it is a cell phone, and not a handheld gaming device.
Mentioning the word 'gaming' and 'DSi' in the blog post does not a videogame post make.
Send this over to cell phone news.

Really? I mean, seriously? That is the single sexiest bit of kit i've seen in a loooong time. It has all the sleekness of the past models but now seems less snappable and weak. I like a device that I don't have to worry about snapping if I grip it a wee bit too hard.

"Wiizer it's funny you say that cause i personally think it looks like a cross between an Iphone and the HTC Hero."
Except there are HTC phones already out or coming soon that look better than it.
Don't get mad at me, guys. I'm not going to sit here and drink the Apple Kool-Aid with you!

If they release an iTurd the Kool-Aid Brigade will claim it an amazingly sexy device.
It's interesting how Apple are following in the footsteps of devices such as the Zune HD with the flatter design. Personally, I prefer this iPhone 4 prototype casing since it looks a lot more Zune/HTC in design.

That's definitely not the final version. Jobs wouldn't allow those seams on the side.
Pity, because I actually like that design.
Now, the rumors of 80GB capacity are far more interesting. If they can pack that much in the iPhone, it'd make a 120GB iPod Touch more reasonable, which means bye bye iPod Classic.

you know a 120GB iPod touch is coming....just as sure as there will be a ZuneHD with 120/128GBs later this year

And since the Classic is ancient by Apple standards, I'm surprised they haven't killed it already. The only reason would be capacity issues, and once that's gone, why keep it around unless they plan a huge redesign (OLED, HD radio, 250GB capacity, etc.)

well they keep it there because people buy it....not everyone wants a touchscreen PMP, I doubt they will add the HD radio tho....

Yeah, I'm certaintly moving away from AIO devices after this Touch dies. Call me old fashioned, but I'd rather carry four or five devices that each do a function spectacularly than one that does several things merely okay. Still don't think I'd buy a Classic, though.

I hear people bitchign about this issue a lot, but anyone who knows anything about economics knows theres a reason for this.
People working on the assembly lines in China make a fraction of what Americans do. It wouldnt be a $50 increase, itd be a massive increase.
Furthermore theres a reason China does all the assembly, and thats because they are built for it. They have the factorys and the companies setup for it, whereas America really doesnt. Even assuming a big company was willing to take the massive finanical gamble of setting up an assembly line here, and staffing it with workers to create higher priced goods that are the same to most people as the cheaper good coming out of China, there really isnt a large number of people seeking jobs in that sort of thing. Assembly lines are a lot harder work than even fast food, and they would have to only pay their workers minimum wage to even come close to competing with China. No one in America wants to do that, so thats why crap isnt made here. The U.S. invents things, and China mass produces them.

Americas weathy lifestyle comes at the cost of blood and sweat of the lower class in other countries. Im as guilty as everyone else in regards to buying these products, I will admit, but at the very least I am grateful that Im on this side and feel remorse for the suffering of others, instead of sitting on a freaking pedestal and having a high and mighty attitude of "oh em gee them darn chinese people I hate them"
Be grateful to China that your next $100 cellphone doesnt cost $500.
Its easy to sit up on your throne cursing those people cutting their hands on sharp silicone and working 90 hour weeks for pennies an hour.

That's the main reason I dislike chinese made products. I suppose if we didn't buy the products the workers would be out jobs and money. But at the same time it's a double edged sword that these places like sweat shops are being abused because they can. That's why I do not like seeing all these foreign made products. I'm grateful they can reduce prices but it isn't worth it at the cost of what those people go through every day.

I've grown tired of touch screen phones. The screen became non responsive and i'd send a text and look a half hour later and it's just sitting there like "you still wanna send this?" Though the touch phone i had was a Dare and i've heard the iphone has a much higher response rate to touch. I got a Blackberry Tour the other day and i've loving the hell out of it. They really are Crackberry's.

Yeah that's what i figured i just didn't want to switch plans to get it. out of my options i thought the Droid looked ugly (practicle but ugly), the Storm had problems and is far too large for a cell phone and any other touch screen knock off like the envy touch or Devour we're just turn off's. Maybe when my contract is up with the Blackberry i'll cancel with Verizon and try out the Iphone. But we'll be treated to Gears 3 and MW3 before that even comes around.

yea you already know thats a proprietary port, which boggles me because I thought I seen something a while back that said ALL major phone makers were going to use stardard Mini-USB ports on their devices starting this year....or maybe it was next year.Either way why wait an additional year? I'd much rather be able to charge all my camera, PS3 controllers, phones, MP3 players, Tablets, Bluetoth headsets, etc charge off of the same cord type.

I am not saying that there will be an EU and NA version of iPhone 4, I was just merely stating that as far as I am aware it is only in place in Europe at the moment and thus to meet the EU standard it will have to have one.
Seeing as this is still a prototype I believe that the final product will mostly likely have both the Apple dock connector and a mini-USB port to conform to this standard. With the mini-USB being used to charge the battery only and the dock acting as it always has (charging and syncing).

@Chris
This is Apple we are talking about.
They refuse to use standards that are widely accepted so you have no choice, unless you want to buy their proprietary adapter.
Still no storage support.
I personally think this is the first iPhone handset that looks decent tbh.
