if it is made by the same people as "Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened" (AKA "Sherlock Holmes Vs. Cthulhu"), Then it will probably be pretty good. that said, I'm not that interested in it though.

Thanks to the power of the internet, everyone already has a copy of Monster Hunter 3 Tri

And is Beat City a game about the Raveonettes?

I thought SSFIV was this weekend. Oh well. That just means I get to hang on to my $350 for another week.

I'll be playing the L4D DLC for sure. If not that, finishing Fragile on the wii, which... man, the designers really gave up halfway through this game. Nothing but long underground corridors and stairwells for the final 5-6 hours.

Did you really have that high of an expectation for Fragile? It was a good concept but you could tell it was going to be bad like 3 months before it came out.

I wouldn't say that Fragile was "bad". I personally loved the game. Sure the combat was meh, but the different weapon types helped break it up a little bit. For me, the game was all about the characters and the story, and the beauty of the world. I don't usually play a game straight from start to finish, without breaking up play times with other games...but for Fragile I did. Sat down...started it...played it till I couldn't stay awake...then came back the next morning and went out it till it was done. I loved the game, and still plan on going back and playing through with the Japanese voice track. Maybe its just one of those games that is an acquired taste?

On the other hand, I see Monster Hunter Tri as being a game like that for me...sit down and just go at it. Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow. :)

Oh i was down with the plot and the scenery. I have a huge love of exploring abandoned buildings. But the scenery totally dies out when you get to the dam. Nothing at all but features corridors. So boring.

I was expecting the whole game to be like the Riddler challenges in Arkham Asylum. All the combat stuff gets in the way, and the game runs out of interesting environments in the last act.

That being said, I do love how much life the rest of the game has. The little memory stories are great, and best map screen ever. If only they filled the environment with more things to explore/collect instead of constantly respawning enemies that are no fun to fight. I can't figure out if the developers are incompetent, or if they caved under pressure to create a more standard game and have you fight things.

Awww, I thought Fragile was really good. The dam (outside) looked fantastic (and it's the location for a set-piece boss battle, which is really easy once you figure out the damn aiming; kind of weird since it's much, much more visually impressive than the final battle, which is also easy in a stupid kind of way). After that, yeah there are some boring corridors. I guess the budget ran out at the end. But that underwater tank chamber with all the pillars and stuff is pretty cool - on the credits, there's some kind of water company there, I think most of the locations must be based on actual research.

Admittedly, it's kind of a case of nice story, nice graphics, nice characters, nice voice acting, nice exploration, nice opening/ending songs... and pretty weak gameplay. :) But a lot of stuff there is quite original. Definitely held my interest to the end, and the memory items were great (7 bells story made me cry for sure).

I'd recommend it to anyone who likes games for exploration and atmosphere. For me, it was like 8/10. But yeah, it does need the caveat that if you're not impressed with atmosphere and snippets of nicely-read stories (in japanese anyhow), and you're more concerned with the combat gameplay, it's probably more like a 4/10. So.

(Sort of a similar category to Cursed Mountain, but significantly better. I'd recommend that, too, despite plenty of flaws and a lot less variety. And that game has good voice acting in English, which could be a bonus for those who don't understand Japanese.)

Back on topic - sherlock holmes vs jack the ripper lol.

Nothing here thats really that appealing to me this week. I'm down for some Monster Hunter for sure but I just eh . . . never mind. I'll wait for reviews and / or a price drop. I still have so many games I'm playing and I recently snagged Bioshock 2 for a good deal. I just can't justify buying all these games when I have plenty to finish. So, unless MH3 knocks my socks off I'll hold off on buying it for now.
