If the sound clips are authentic, it's unclear whether Liara's Shadow Broker sub-plot will be handled using the same structure as other Mass Effect 2 characters, or if it'll be part of something more like BioWare's Dragon Age: Origins -- Awakening, thus taking place after the events of the core game. It'd be nice to have Liara back on the team, but given the weight bestowed upon the Shadow Broker in the Mass Effect universe, it'd be awkward if he/she/it were dispatched through a simple "loyalty mission" -- although it may feel less abrupt for transmedia consumers of the comic. Those interested in the spoilerish sound clips can give them a listen after the break.
Rumor: Mass Effect 2 files could point to Liara T'Soni DLC

Swallow this information with the same caution one would a drink served by a Batarian bartender, but it appears that Liara T'soni may return to fighting form in future Mass Effect 2 DLC. Tehpwnage explains that extracted sound files from the PC version of the game allegedly allude to a quest where Shepard's former companion (and possible lover) confronts the Shadow Broker.

I have a feeling she wouldn't care anyways. You could be as mean and snarky as you wanted in the first game, you were still going to get some from whoever you picked.

I say go for it maybe I can convince something to happen with her and Tali. It's been a few weeks so she should be over her cold...

I "cheated on her" because I was confused about what exactly she was getting at by refusing to come with. A lot of the information regarding that whole sub-plot is only revealed in the comic book, and I had no idea of its existence until after I finished the game. At the time, I wouldn't have called it cheating because it seemed like she was being a selfish bitch who had already left me. In reality, she's gotta be the most dedicated love interest in the game.
Then... this video kind of kills that again. Even after gathering all that information and supposedly enacting her vengeance, she's contrived to stay where she is instead of maybe bringing that information on board the new Normandy where she could travel with you and analyze the data in her free time. After all, that information was the only reason she did what she did in the first place. Now that she has it, she doesn't need to continue the life of an information broker.

she's revenge obsessed because of what Shadow Broker wanted to do to Shepard's body. She's doing all this for Shepard.

she can, but that doesn't change the fact that IM back and that I need her help, and that she should drop her stupid, and selfish ways and help me instead of going after The Shadow Broker... and its just the fast that she was okay in the first game and now she's just evil

This is all Shepard's fault anyway. If you wouldn't have almost died in the first place then she would still be the nice and sweet Liara everyone liked.

Not at all shocking. I was expecting it in ME3, but I won't be at all unhappy to kick some Shadow Broker ass in ME2.

Sounds very much like a Awakenings-style thing, since Liara refers to the Collectors in past tense time and time again. That would be better than a unofficial feeling DLC, since Liara should remain a big part of the story for those of us who stayed loyal though out ME2.

Doesn't sound like Liara will join the team. More like you do a favor for her instead... and she thanks you while citing all that crap about data decoding taking a life time to complete.

While it is probably true, it is incredibly hard for me to take a site called "Tehpwnage" seriously.

I kind of hope this is just a rumor, as much as I would love a Mass Effect 2 Robot Awakening- I always hated Liara. Ashley might have been a space racist but at least she wasn't a baby faced old money accented space bitch. I mean come on, literally any other Asari was way better looking!

The way I read this at first, I thought it meant that there would be DLC exploring what she did between games 1 and 2. After finishing ME2, it seemed that some of the events between 1 and 2 would have made for better side stories than some of what was actually in the game. A series of standalone quests exploring the actions of all the old ME1 characters would get me back playing again in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I've got all the companion achievements and for a while I rolled hard biotic (adept, Liara, and either Kaiden or Wrex, Kaiden is generally the best choice because of his tech abilities, but Wrex gives you some additional firepower). The game is REALLY easy (even insanity isn't particularly difficult) with a squad of biotics, particularly if you build your adept with a weapon bonus feat.
