Prince of Persia movie LEGO toys get a block-buster commercial

We've seen so many instances where the LEGO toy brand has infiltrated the world of video games over the past few years -- that's why it's so downright refreshing to see the tables get turned. Just past the jump is a commercial for that new line of wonderbricks based on the upcoming film adaptation of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. It's full of assassins, traps that are ready to spring on a teeny little Jake ~~Gyllenhaal~~ Gyllenblock, but, strangely, nary a trace of the slow-motion -- which is so prevalent in the film and games.

Though your mind may immediately wander to the possibility of a LEGO video game based on Jordan Mechner's action-platforming franchise, we'd like to remind you that LEGO bricks are, in and of themselves, completely rad. LEGO bricks based on one of our favorite game series are doubly so.

I gotta say . . . if that ends up happening i think i'd be pretty tight. Just that they would be a game out there that would have a title like that (though they probably wouldn't call it that but we all would know) would be pretty funny.

Presumably they name him in the movie, although I can't say why.

I thought he was called Generic Rage.

I believe Dastan was the name he was given in a novel or something, I don't think it was the movie that thought of it first.

With this kind of marketing I wouldn't doubt if Disney is trying to make Persia TV, movie, toy, and (casual) videogame franchise friendly.

...And this marks the beginning of the age of the LEGO doppelgangers.

But it is a terrible shame that Mega Blocks got the Halo license first. Mega Blocks suck ass. Honestly I don't understand how a company can produce building toys that won't even fit together properly.

Microsoft is stupid. They've made so many quirky licensing decisions with the Halo IP.

I have to say I was very disappointed when I discovered that the Star Trek license for construction toys had gone to Mega Bloks and not LEGO. Star Wars went to LEGO, but Star Trek went to Mega Bloks? How do you make the decision NOT to grant the license to the greatest toy of all time? I still hope that, someday, someone will build a full-scale (yes, 1:1) LEGO model of one of the Enterprises. Preferably the refit Constitution-class. With working warp drive, running on LEGO-antiLEGO reaction. Then we'd have good reason for Bones to repeat his line from "The Devil in the Dark": "I'm a doctor, not a bricklayer."

A Lego Prince of Persia game sounds cool, but I don't think it would work seeing as they move in a sort of "blocky" fashion.

MegaMan / X
Legend of Zelda
Battletoads

Then you could call Gamestop asking if they have LEGO Battletoads for Wii

Obviously Lego Resident Evil, Bioshock and God of War are the way to go.

lego uncharted. beat that.

in my day, if i wanted to play star wars or indiana jones with my legos, i had to be creative and build the ships with existing blocks. licensed legos removes the imaginitive fun from the brand. a shame, really.
