Magnets are cutting it. Maybe if they included a complete lego model or something, but 20 bucks for magnets? No. I'll stick with the standard.

Sneak preview of a film that's got everything going against it? ugh, why bother? I really hate that Warner controls the Potter IP, pretty much guarantees a lifetime of crummy games based on the crummy inconsistent movies, and that no one will be able to step in and do the franchise justice. All the hope of Turbine potentially working on the long overdue Harry Potter or Hogwarts MMO is dashed when you consider it will be guaranteed to be based on the film design tosh.

End of Harry Potter fangirl rant / lego games aren't fun anymore.

@Mystile

Well, my book of the month recommendation is an older pick this time; Steven Kent's "The Ultimate History Of Video Games." A thrilling tale, endorsed by industry titans!

@ 32X - Are you kidding? Deathly Hallows was fantastic, what're you snorting?

@ Faenix - Well just on the specifics of the seventh/eighth film: It's a 3D film that wasn't filmed in 3D and the set was badly damaged in a fire the other month for starters.

On the basis of the rest of the films inconsistencies: They have a hell of a lot of catching up to do . . . Major characters to only just introduce in the final films, very important plot lines and their involved characters that they've completely abandoned in previous films that they'll have to write around or fabricate from scratch (as per usual). Christ I just wanted to give a stern talking to Heyman, Yates and Kloves for COMPLETELY missing the point of Half-Blood Prince and turning it into the most predictable PG snoozefest if seen in years - The focus should have been Dumbledore and Riddle, not the piss-poorly realized quest for romance. And, you know, that whole everything has been an inconsistent mess and as such, there's absolutely no reason to believe this won't be the biggest, most unbelievably inconsistent film of the lot of them . . . considering the mess they've got to build it upon.

Man, people need to take a step back with their pricing. I can only hope this crap doesn't sell and give them ideas of charging even more.

The missed opportunity to include a whole exclusive Harry Potter Lego set is wasted. They could probably realistically wring another $20 out of people for that.

As much as I still enjoy the Lego games, that's a really weak CE.
They could have at least thrown in some actual Harry Potter Lego minifigs, rather than those magnets.

Collector's Editions come in two varieties: a waste of money, or completely unfair advantage. The vast majority of Collector's Editions fall into the first category. They charge an extra $10-$20 for a DVD, a trinket, and maybe a poster. I've lost count of the number of titles which have been sold with this crap. A few years ago when I ran the local Gamestop, I usually recommended that customers skip a collector's Edition unless it gave actual additional game content. But then, on occasion, you get the second category, as was the case with Battlefield: Bad Company. The premium weapons were entirely unbalancing.

It's hard to get this balance right, and I can't think of a title which did.

The travesty of recent movies aside, I'm hoping that WB sells the IP after they wring it out. Then I hope the BBC can buy it and make some relevant (though not as high tech) mini series'. I would gladly trade the Holywood Special effects for Dr Who special effects if it meant a decent adaptation. It's a shame because they got such great actors for the series.

Special Edition: If there's one game I might have (being a total Potterhead) gotten the SE for this year (besides Fallout Vegas) it would've been Lego Potter. What I don't understand is the fact that they give a 360 avatar but nothing for PS home; even less incentive for ps3 owners.
I may still get the SE but after a few months when it's dropped down past the price of the regular.

Now that you mention it I'm surprised production for the films wasn't done by BBC or even Channel 4. But I guess the big bucks $$ Rowling saw were with WB.

I'm sure WB had more money to offer and the clout to get the big names she wanted: Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, and etc. I don't know if that was her only reasoning but it could've been.
I can't blame her if it was for the money.
Who wants to work for the rest of their life?

Don't get my wrong, I would have bought the game at $50 knowing that it is a bit high as it is, but this stuff should simply be included in the $50 price tag to make that worth the cost and the 'standard' edition should be, say, $40.

But hey, the LEGO games drop in price like a (sorcerer's?) stone, so I don't see much point in complaining about the high starting price.
