Consoles are becoming more like PCs every day.

Uh... What are you talking about? Consoles are way more reliable than computers. Computers can get viruses, BSOD, Hardware failures and get just as f'ed up as any console. But with a console you always know you got the hardware to run it, so you're not buying a game and have to turn the graphical settings to super low to run it.

But on topic, that is ridiculous. That means your firmware must be up to date to play it at any time.

Yeah, but you don't wonder "is this the unlucky time?" everytime you turn on your PC.

I'd imagine this is some sort of mistake.

I always kind of wonder why you keep stating random crap as facts. You always get called out on it and then you just go ahead and do it again.

But don't stop on my behalf, it's quite amusing really.

The average computer does not have a 54.2% failure rate. That's not crap, that's a fact.

That doesn't mean PC's are more reliable, just cause it turns on doesn't mean it works like it should.

Most people I know have their PC's working like they were made 15 years ago. They have no idea why a virus scanner might be a good idea or what the f**k spy-ware really is.

And try to run some software on your computer, you gotta make sure you have the right configuration and if not you can spend a couple of hours trying to figure out why your copy of "Game such and such" won't f**king load!

And those problems don't happen on consoles? Do you know how many idiots didn't realize that it didn't matter if the console was set to output HD content if they didn't flip the big switch on the AV plug?

And the average real PC gamer isn't going to have those issues.

So you're saying the "average real" Xbox player is not going to figure out how to flip a switch on a cord?

Either way, I'm going to stop arguing with your ass, cause it's fairly pointless.

That's because as long as you're not a total idiot your PC will run fine.

Who knows, maybe I'm just bitter over the fact that 360 #3 appears to be on its way out, and it's not even four months old.

I got your back Dr. 32X. Most of the people here who are complaining about unreliable PCs probably had issues from years back. I haven't had a virus nor any other malware on my PC since 2004, when I stopped using P2P networks. : )

yea.

my PC runs perfectly, there was a HD failure that was due to the hard drive manufacturer, but it didn't result in any data loss what so ever.

in the three years i have had this PC, my brother has returned his x-box twice.

both are computers, both are just as likely to shit in your soup.

BSOD? Viruses?
Seriously? Been drinking the Apple kool-aid much?

Computers I put together 7 years ago still work fine, thanks. You buy quality parts, put the system behind a surge protector or APS, and install free and widely available antivirus and antispyware software - you should have little to no problems with a computer.

I'd say it largely depends on the user. I've personally not had any major issues with my PS3 or PC. My PC failed to wake up from sleep a week or so ago, but's that the only recent incident I can think of. It worked fine after I rebooted though.

But I say it depends on the user because you can definitely get yourself into more trouble with a PC. While I don't have any issues, I've had to fix PCs for quite a few friends and family that managed to get them loaded down with viruses and/or malware. This though it merely a function of a more flexible platform being used by uninformed users, not really a failure of PCs in general.

Every system has that occasional error, aside from the RROD edition of the 360 a while back, which has occasional success.

If you can't figure out how to make a PC reliable, you're the problem. No offense. But you can work it out if you do a little homework and take an interest.

I am a PS3 gamer, barely even touch my PC for games (though I probably will go to PC next gen because I'm kinda butthurt about otherOS). But I have to admit PCs are easy to keep running these days.

Pcs last much longer than most consoles of this generation.

360 and their rrods, fat ps3s with YLOD.... slim PS3s and the jasper 360 still need to pass the test of time. Its ok if you want to close your eyes, but dont deny that this is happening.

Holy wow - Had no idea people loathed the basis of consoles. The only difference between a computer and a console is the OS loaded on it, and the fact that MS charges you 5x the going rate to replace hardware... which only they are allowed to do in most cases.

It is not hard at all to keep a PC running well. Heck my mom doesn't know Jack about them and she can keep hers running just fine. Virus scan once a week and she knows not to do stupid things like open email attachments when she has no idea who the sender is.

It's not rocket science. If you're doing basic stuff you only need a bit of common sense. PC gamers especially tend to know their system quite well. Mine has proven far more reliable than my PS3, my 360, and my original Xbox. The idea that consoles are intrinsically more reliable is a myth.

Also A lot of the people were boycotting the update so that they could hopefully install the workaround (though their intent to use said workaround might be questionable)..

I doubt it's DRM, it's probably just due to the design of the network code

like "Oh man, boss, I can't get the drop in multiplayer to work unless we require people be online the whole time."

Boss: "Can you fix it in the next week?"

Engineer "no way"

Boss: "OK, it now requires you to be online at all times, bug closed"

Help me! - This *is* DRM, admitted by Capcom in a reply to a disgruntled patron (you can google this, found on IGN's forums and Dtoid). It's a newly added PSN restriction that developers have the option of enabling on their games. It requires the user to have an active internet connection just to LAUNCH the game.

This also prevents users from playing the game on any other local-accounts on that PS3 or another PS3 they might own.

sigh.

this is where the problem comes in, people don't understand that just because you are connected when you purchase it, doesn't mean you are connected 100%.

pretty sure you can use dial up with a ps3 (via a pc with dial up, and a crossover cord, and alot of people do that when they wanna play.)

a while ago I used to bring my ps3 over to a neighbors house to buy PSN games because I had dial up. I'm sure others do the same. I'm also so fed up with my new "High speed" internet that I've decided I no longer want to continue paying 80$ a month for it. it also happens to be the only highspeed provider in my area.

Just because you don't see a problem with something, doesn't mean the problem isn't there.

If a guy can't see a car coming at him head on in broad daylight, he's either got his eyes closed or he's blind.

I live in the sticks and I have 2 options, dial-up or an EVDO wireless modem. Now the EVDO card is great for surfing and I get by just fine on it, but it does have a tendency to drop signal every couple of hours and have to be re-set. That means that if I'm playing a game that requires a constant internet connection, I face the possibility of losing connection and getting kicked out of the game. It's annoying and not something a paying customer should have to put up with under any circumstances.

It will also definitely keep me from buying this on the PSN, it will have to be a 360 purchase.
