Awesome. Sam and Max is easily one of my favorite series ever. I tried the demo and I still like the point and click better, but oh well, still seemed fun.

Awesome! Now all we need is the rest of the Monkey Island series and Grim Fandango. I'd be the happiest man on earth.

Yeah way over my head considering the comment bears no relation to my post. So it's confusing.

I played the first season. I had my fun, but it was super jankey in both visuals and gameplay. Glad to see the series has finally been given a proper update. I may have to catch up.

I'd actually recommend playing through this season with a gamepad, if you have it. The native support for gamepad is really well done. Controlling Sam makes sense, and with the shoulder buttons you can easily see what can be interacted with and scroll through them.

A little on the easy side, but worth the purchase. Played it through twice already! Personally i like the new set up since you can select all the items that can be interacted with using the right-stick. Makes it near impossible to miss an item an get stuck on a puzzle.

I have the PS3 version, and it kinda suffers from freezing issues. Not game crashing freezes, but the game will freeze for 5-10 seconds here and there (usually before a scene change, or even a load screen) and very rarely, but enough that it's happened a couple times... I get framerate issues.

Anyone else experience this? Is it just isolated to the PS3, or does everyone get it? HAS anyone got it?

I've experienced it as well. I actually had it freeze up on me though. It seemed to get worse as time went by.

I've got this on a fairly powerful pc rig too, so its not just ps3, its probably the engine futzing around.

Ugh, I want to buy this episode but I'm still slogging my way through season 2. I'm "stuck" in Moai Better Blues at the moment. I love the games generally but that episode just isn't doing it for me.

Anyone considering a purchase on Steam or the PSN Store would probably be better served by buying the whole season direct from Telltale's site. If you do that you get a digital download and they mail you the season on DVD.

Goddamit Telltale, why must you force me to move around the envrionment with keys or a mousedrag? Does LucasArts have a patent on the point-and-click-once-to-move controls which you have to pay royalties for every click made?

If you want to instigate Escape From Monkey Island style controls then fair enough, but why remove the tried and tested method as well? It's not like the old style was making me buy less games.

Guess I'll be passing on this series now as well. I play the games for the puzzles and story and gain no immersion from directly controlling how they walk from a to b to solve those puzzles. A gamepad may make things feel better, but it shouldn't have to be a requirement, at least on a PC anyway.

Giving the game a direct control scheme lets them use more dynamic camera angles and shots. If they only had point and click you would always have to use shots that showed a ton of ground so the player can easily click on it. I can understand the love of the point and click style but the mouse drag direct control of Sam has come a long way since they first started using it and it shouldn't be the sole reason you don't purchase the game because your missing out on a lot of fun. It is okay to loosen your sphincter a little and try something that isn't point and click.

I'm actually the opposite, I get more frustrated playing the older seasons because of the lack of full movement controls and having to click around the screen to figure out how to leave a weird camera angle.

I admit that I wasn't aware of a new camera scheme being the reasoning behind it, as I switched off once the control scheme was even brought up. With that in mind I'd be willing to give it another go, but more than likely it'd be console simply for the gamepad aspect. I know I'll never warm to keys for this sort of thing, and mouse drag.. yeah, even with it improved I just can't envision it ever being something I'd get into.

With the new control scheme, you barely have to walk anywhere. Usually two steps towards the destination is enough for Sam to be "pointed" correctly, leaving a simple press of the X button (PS3) to complete the "click" and have him walk himself across the screen and execute the action.

I really love how this season started, way better than Season 2 (which i loved). All the powers are fun to use, and the "secret" one (unlocked after finishing the game) is real fun, and opens lots of new dialog (Try it with Stinky's coffee xD)
