This weekend, while you were working on the wizard outfit that will finally complete your cosplay group's Trine collective, Steam was busy updating the PC version of the game with free content. According to the Steam news page, Trine received a free DLC level named "Path to New Dawn" as a post-completion bonus this past Sunday. Additionally, a handful of minor updates were made to the game itself, ranging from new information on "experience and secrets in the inventory menu" to fixing a "respawn bug in [the] Iron Forge level (in co-op) near the first gate."
Unfortunately, it appears that the release of this new content in the PS3 version isn't a sure thing. "At the moment we're not sure if the free DLC is going to get released on PSN," developer Frozenbyte told Joystiq. "It's not in our direct control but we'd love to get it released and are trying to make that happen -- but at this point it's hard to say how it will play out. Same goes for the price as well." When we pushed for info about any additional DLC in the pipeline, we were told, "There's no immediate plans on any platform. That said, if you have completed Trine on your PC, then I'd suggest completing this extra level as well, collecting all the 10 purple potions ..." You should probably do that if you're in a position to go potion-hunting.

@Brian
PSN allows free DLC, it's Xbox Live that doesn't, but even Xbox Live allows it if they can fit in it a title update, because it's not the DLC you get from their store.

Hope they decide to release this for the PS3. I actually played and finished that game in co-op on the PS3. Even though I haven't played all the way through on the PC version, I did pick it up when it was on sale for $5 on Steam. So I'll pick up the free DLC that way regardless... won't be doing any co-op on that version though.

one of my favourite games of all time! i hope that doesn't sound too weird.
if PS3 bound, maybe font tweaks can be done? stat font is so unreadable.

Its really that good? I played the demo, liked it, bought it over the christmas sales on Steam, havent touched it since. Been finishing too many other games lol. Finally started Mass Effect very recently, after owning it since christmas on steam and not touching it too. I cannot believe how magnificent that game is. I'll finish Trine after Mass Effect.

It's also worth nothing that Trine is on sale on steam RIGHT NOW for 5 dollars.

Does that image not look eerily similar to this one? http://www.joystiq.com/photos/castlevania-lords-of-shadows/#2057596

I haven't played Trine yet. Is it like really really really really really really good like everyone says it is or should I save up for Ballad of Gay Tony?

I had a ton of fun with it. It's a tad short, but it's really cheap so that didn't bother me. I played through it the first time by my self, and there's enough of a changed dynamic to warrant a second (or third) play through with friends in co-op. Well worth the $5 if you ask me.

Oh, actually I'm not sure how much it is on the PS3, sorry. I'm not sure if the price cut applies to PSN as well, probably not if there's no update on the PS3 yet. In which case it's likely $20. It's $5 on Steam until the 26th of April, though. :) The system requirements are quite low, and it works very nicely with a keyboard and mouse.

Trine and Ballad of Gay Tony are apples and oranges (though both are excellent IMO). Honestly if you have even a halfway decent computer, you should spend $5 to get Trine rather than spending $20 to get it on PSN. Granted it is fully worth $20 and I don't think anyone would be sad spending that... but why pay $15 more if you can avoid it? FYI the pc version supports gamepads, so you don't have to keyboard and mouse it.
However... one is a platformer with a bit of combat and some great physics based puzzles... and the other is a story set in the GTA sandbox world, so they can't really be compared. If you insist on getting them both on PSN... I would say that most likely Gay Tony will be your best bet to get first, but you should get both eventually.

Well I played the level. It's pretty short and fairly challenging, on par with the last level of the game. Took me a couple tries to beat. It is a completely vertical level with no orbs to save your progress.

Got it on PSN when it was on-sale for $10, got to second stage and haven't got back to it for some reason. x.x
Really need to get back to it lol, hope this DLC comes to PSN - and brings an extra trophy or two. *shifty*
