Hmmmm. Risky releasing a game during our supposed end of the world. If it's good, I'll play right through the destruction!

We all need something to play as the world is torn asunder.

Well, my initial analysis is that the design of this poor dude's suit is such that the steam reactor on his back shoves his head forward, so he can't look anywhere except directly at the ground in front of him. Which not only seems like a hindrance in a fight, but it looks really uncomfortable. My neck is getting sore just thinking about it.

Sorry... there's not much to go on here about the game, so I'm reduced to feeling sorry for the poor bastard in his neck-cramping steam powersuit.

Ow, you're right. I guess it could be a robot, but that doesn't look likely.

I feel worse for the Goblin. He's practically carrying a car on his back.

I love steampunk (Which i insist on calling Steamgear, usually, because steampunk sounds stupid.) and the games that let me live in a world of giant clockwork mecha tend to be few and far between. Steambot chronicles and Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicle being the ones i've gotten the most mileage out of. This looks promising.

There's also the railgun in Fallout 3. You can just use that and pretend. Maybe throw on a duster and a brotherhood helmet.

I just used that for the "toot toot" when it was reloading. Otherwise it was useless, but still fun to hear.

Bioshock always reminds me of steampunk, and isn't Dark Void supposed to be there too?

It's always a pretty fascinating aesthetic and it has potential so I'm definitely interested in hearing more.

Totally agree with you except for the Dark Void part. It has a bit of steampunk going for it but you can tell that wasn't their intention.

Also there was a little game called Damnation that came out recently. It's definitely steampunk, I wouldn't call it good ... but it's steampunk.

But is it truly, truly outrageous?

I am a big steam punk fan but when the word outrageous is tossed around outside the context of Gem and the Holograms I get a bit leery. It's sort of like X-TREME just the kind of people who use that word scare me a touch.

As for Bioshock and Dark Void being Steam Punk, no they are not. Steam Punk requires a level of technology that's not beyond the Steam age and usually a Victorian period setting, both are diesel era (you could say they are Diesel Punk.) But they do both have a very art deco so they both have a similar and really REALLY cool design.

tho it is quite awhile away many games were announced or teased at 2 years before a game was released. i'm a gamer but lately i'm getting turned off from games that are being released out for the generation. sure their was good ones but nothing to really get my attention .... now the old days of PS1 or PS2 or even SNES or NES i'l always go back too them games with no problem.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, the best steampunk game made so far.

Artwork reminds me of some of the stuff out of the old Heavy Metal magazine.

This screams Warmachine (privateerpress.com) to me, In the tabletop game the casters all wear steam powered armor and such. The art ascetics are different but when I think steam powered armor I always think about my Warmachine miniatures.

The concept art looks great. I'm a big fan of steampunk, so hopefully this will go well. And wasn't Torchlight kind of steampunk?
