Halo: Reach special editions confirmed, including $150 'Legendary' set

The pair of Halo: Reach special edition packages we shared with you yesterday have been verified by Microsoft. In addition to a standard edition (which includes the best part: the game), a $79.99 Limited Edition will be sold in special ONI "black box" packaging, along with an exclusive in-game Elite armor set for multiplayer and an "artifact bag" containing "Dr. Halsey's personal journal and other classified documents and effects that unravel long held secrets from the Halo universe."

Meanwhile, the $149.99 Legendary Edition will come in UNSC packaging and contain everything found in the Limited Edition, plus a hand-painted, numbered statue of Noble Team (crafted by McFarlane Toys) and an "exclusive multiplayer Spartan armor effect." That effect, incidentally: flaming helmet. You can peruse the contents of each edition -- including screens of the Elite armor and flaming helmet -- in the gallery below.

Why would you want to buy this? $100 more for a flaming head online, and a plastic figurine...

Those bastards are getting no more than $60 from me (which is sorta like $40 because of the gift card deal at walmart)

Heaven forbid someone like nice things and doesn't want to wait a year while this thing is tossed around warehouses and stores.

The flaming helmet is pretty cool. Incidentally, you can also obtain one in some cases by not wearing a profilactic, although I'm not sure you want to show that one off.

I personally think it's a dumb idea to give out flaming helmets. It was cool to get into a game with bungie guys (knowing because the helmet). Now there are going to be thousands of people with this. It's going to be annoying more than anything.

The flaming helmet will now be a sign of someone that spent an absurd amount of money on a flaming helmet. We shall make fun of these people severely, and there shall be no peace for them.

Adding "The, Do, and Are" to his statement didn't help. ROFLS I might of just added them randomly to make it funnier for me.

Limited Edition is the sweet spot for me. I mainly do single player and have read all the Halo books...so the journal and artifact bag look like awesome goodies.

Compared to the last Legendary Edition this is pretty sweet.

Damn, and I was hoping it would be crappy so I wouldn't be tempted.

the flaming helmet, while nice, will probably get you sniped faster than someone in an EVA helmet

Preordering this today through Amazon in case a shortage comes up later, but chances are I'll just pick up the regular edition and wait for this to hit sub-$100.

as someone who doesn't even have an interest in Halo or Xbox, that is pretty damn cool.

Oddly enough, I tried that and couldn't get it to take anything off. Tried the 15NNEW one and it did.

I learned my lesson with the Legendary edition of Halo 3. Just the standard edition for me, thank you very much.

I agree, I think I'll go for the Limited edition, Legendary is just a little too much $$ to ask for.
