By "they" if you mean suda's team you're wrong. Suda is against this port. Marv did this to get more money since the game sold poorly in Japan. Ubisoft has not dropped NMH, and it suppose to be publishing number 3. The deal is Ubi agrees with Suda this should stay Wii exclusive.

Import. It's got English VOs, and the PS3 is region free.

Is this just Japan Wii sales or worldwide Wii sales? That's freaking nuts.

Release this game here in the States please! I will pre-order immediately!

NMH for the Wii sold 11k in Japan.

In the US, however, NMH sold 39,000 within a week.

As gonintendo reported at the time, Ubisoft had shipped 50k for the American market (that's Canada, US and Mexico) and they sold out in the US.

If I may be so bold, please remember that the Wii version was a slow burner and now it's approaching 500,000 copies sold. Whether the 360 and PS3 versions follow suit still remains to be seen.

I bought the game to support Grasshopper, but I haven't played it much just because it's too much of a hassle to pull out the Wii.

I'll pick this up for the 360 or PS3 though, let's do this!

the 360 version was the uncensored version. received a Z rating, and the ps3 version received a D rating.

but even then its really impressive since the PS3 version is probably being imported where as the xbox version is region locked

DeepFriedSushi-

Master of spin. I seriously doubt anyone is bothering to import this game on PS3. If you have some figures or information to back that claim up I'd be all ears.

Pretty sure there's a glitch in the numbers.

No other 360 games in the top 30, and for some reason, as many people randomly decide to buy the 360 version of a game as the PS3 version?

Please. Did one person buy 14,000 copies or something?

Glad to hear it. I heard Suda didn't have much to do with bringing this to PS3/360 but if allows them to make more games I'm happy it sold some copies. I would import a copy if I knew it at least had English subtitles.

That's also why it wont come stateside, because Ubisoft published it here. Ubisoft agrees with Suda it should stay Wii exclusive. Marv wanted to be dicks and ported the game without Suda's permission, but since in Jap'n they own the rights to the first one they can do as they wish.

This is also why NMH2 more then likely wont get a port.

Same thing with Killer 7. Suda saw no money from the PS2 port because Capcom did it with their own team and without Suda at all.

Uh, not really? A couple thousand more than the original release doesn't say much. And since games ususally sell their best their first week, it'll be all downhill from here.

If one or both systems sold double or more first week over the Wii, then I might agree with you. As it stands now, all three first week numbers seem paltry--especially when you consider the newer version is riding off the fact that people know what they're getting into from the Wii title.

It's just starting, though, so you may still be right in the end.

DMC, Bayonetta, and GoW are hardly the same... the comparison is laughable. I do think it means something that an old port of a Wii game actually sold a bit better on systems with smaller install bases, but ultimately Grasshopper games are the very definition of niche and can never hope to match the blockbusters on any platform.

Well, Bayonetta is probably the closest.. it's another crazy game that barley makes any sense. But even after seeing tons of info on NMH I still haven't a clue what the hell it's about. It's just some crazy game with with low production graphics. It's not something it likely to sell to the PS3/360 audiences.

I just don't see what's there to appeal to a large audience. From the outside looking to buy a game I just don't any hook that would draw most people in. I've always thought it looked niche well before the first game launched.

To say that Mad World and No More Heroes got a lot of hype on 'sites like this' is relatively meaningless in relation to sales. I'd say borderline, entirely meaningless. Those of us that frequently read gaming sites are a rather small fraction of the videogamer biomass that buy games.

I also disagree since I think that both Mad World and No More Heroes are indeed niche games to all degrees of Wii owners. I'd go on but I'd likely start rambling like an idiot.

It sold almost triple the Wii version when you combine both HD versions (31,000); therefore, the HD ports have almost reached the sales of the Wii version already in their first week. I'd say that is saying much.

Get off the crap about niche games already. Heavy Rain is about as niche as you can possibly get and it sold a gajillion times what any of these Wii games did.

"Uh, not really? A couple thousand more than the original release doesn't say much."

It's actually pretty remarkable when you consider

a) Several year old ports typically sell WAY less than the original
b) install base

For a), look at how the year late CoD4:MW remake sold on the Wii compared to the HD consoles, or how the year old Bioshock port sold on the PS3 compared to the 360. A several year old port actually outselling the original is absurd, and to do it on a console with literally 1/10th the install base is just comical.

but it is niche. sometimes niche genres sell a million, sometimes they dont... it all depends on timing, marketing, and sometimes its just luck. heavy rain is in a niche genre yes, but the marketing was good, word of mouth was good, and it was realistic.. which was different than most adventure games. its a stark contrast when compared to monkey island.. or zack and wiki.

bayonetta had great advertising, and it was made by the guy who did devil may cry. oh and it had a demo too! i think wii games not having demos is pretty damning to some of them, but at the same time.. no more heroes isnt a million seller. and madworld? lol hardly similar to god of war.. its black and white, the art style is goofy, and its 10x more repetitive. theres no epic story, no amazing lead, no sick new combos to learn like in bayonetta.. also, bayonettas lead is a hot chick, if you dont think that helped sales then youre crazy. ill be surprised if this game surpasses total numbers for the wii version over time.

what is the excuse for killer 7, viewtiful joe, godhand, and okami not doing well on the ps2.. which had something like 100 million owners if those games werent niche? and one thing nobody has mentioned, theyre distinctly japanese games. unless theyre final fantasy, those dont do to well these days.

so yeah... its niche, not well advertised, and theyd be lucky to hit a million. oh and dante had GREAT advertising.. i mean during the freaking superbowl.

That's what happens when a game is multiplatform. It tends to sell more than if it were exclusive.
